Sorry, shameless self-plug time.
I profiled the
infamous (in NY) Charles Smith (http://nymag.com/daily/sports/2011/12/checking-in-with-charles-smith.html) for New York Mag sports section. If you know me, you'll know I'm a Jordan fanboy who talks about "The Flu Game", "The Double Nickel", and "The Charles Smith Game" all the time. So it was an honor to meet the man on the unfortunate end of that game.
As for the NBA...man, I'm one of the biggest David Stern fans around. Or at least I was. I loved how he pushed the league globally, digitally, and how he stood firm against commie China (the Yi Jilian saga) or how
he verbally ethered Stan Van Gundy But still, these last few months? He's lost it. His legacy as the greatest commissioner in all of sports is gone.
The great Harvey Dent once said
"You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain"
David Stern needs to take note of that.
Also, The Dark Knight Rises prologue... I haven't seen it yet but by all accounts it's "breathtaking", ala JGL's rotating corridor scene in Inception.
Damn.

here is a story i wrote for SLAM magazine
http://www.slamonline.com/online/nba/2010/05/hong-kongs-love-of-the-game/a few things
1: i'm happy to have a platform to get out to the world that HK ISN'T CHINA. I'm so sick and tired of this western misconception that everyone Chinese worships Yao Ming. Please. Basketball's popularity in HK can be linked to Jordan's emergence and Japanese manga SLAM DUNK. HKers hardly care about mainland athletes. My line about seeing 500 Kobe jerseys before a Yao Ming jersey in HK is an understatement. I've never seen a Yao Ming jersey in HK, period.
2: the comments are getting interesting, a couple of filipino americans repping their home country, and they're, i gotta admit, not wrong. those guys can ball.

Man, this Joakim Noah/Cleveland feud is making the playoffs funnnn.
After he said Cleveland as a city, "sucks", he followed up tonight by asking a reporter "what, you think Cleveland's cool? I ain't hear no one come here for vacation. They hate me here, so? I got my friends".
This is Noah's "friend"

sorry, Cleveland. Noah wins.
Anyway, Lebron is ridiculous. 11 straight points in the final 3 minutes to carry the Cavs to a heated victory over the Bulls. A dagger three in Noah's face.
Damn.

Back on August 9th, I wrote here that
"BTW, fantasy hoops players. Pick Kevin Durant in the top four next
year. He's gonna drop 30 and 7 a game with two threes. Take it from a
dude who won it all in 04, 06 and 08."
http://www.alivenotdead.com/bensin/hyperizing-profile-723452.html
today, as the NBA season is about to come to an end... Durant is averaging...
30.1 points and 7.6 rebounds.
thank you, thank you very much.
