Every since the trailer came out a couple of weeks ago I have been getting more and more psyched for this movie to be released. Today we did our own interviews in English and Cantonese to go into the special features section of the DVD. For myself and Farini, finding some of the words to say was difficult as we haven't touched the movie in a year. That being said, our initial impressions and hopes for the film are still very clear.

Once again, if you haven't seen the trailer yet check it out! Then look forward to the Independant HK film festival in November.

  • Going the distance

    2008-04-30 1:49PM / 標準BLOG

Yesterday, I took off my front tire and boarded the train to Tai Wai. Just after entering the gate an attendant asked me if I had paid the 20$ luggage fee. I nearly attacked him! While pretending to be patient I waited for him to measure the length of my bike. Apparently, if it is over 180 cm then I need to pay the fee. It was only 133 cm.

Once I got to Tai Wai I was quickly on my way! In fact I got to Fan Ling much sooner then I expected, but then nearly got lost in some small villages. When I found my way again I was already in Sheung Shui. Originally that I was planning to go there, have lunch, and then head back. But as I had only been out for just over an hour I decided to go a bit further.

Another hour or so later I was near Yuen Long. When I first got my bike a month ago I kept saying that eventually I would ride all the way out to Yuen Long, I didn't expect it to be so easy. So now that I have made my first distance goal I need to find some more challenges.
  • Mountain biking in HK

    2008-04-28 6:29PM / 標準BLOG

Since my knees don't like me jogging anymore, I got a mountain bike for my bday a month ago. I am finally getting into the habit of riding as much as I can again. Today was my second day to ride home from TVB. Now I have to try to ride into TVB, then I can regularly ride to and from work.

There were quite a few challenges at first. The biggest challenge being the roads in HK. Definitely not designed with bike riders in mind. Growing up I was used to riding wherever I wanted as the roads always had room on the sides. Not so here, and some drivers even go out of their way to run you off the road - if they even see you at all. But despite my initial distaste for bicycle tracks and sidewalks, I am finding that until I get the speed and power up they are safe alternative.

Before I got used to leaving TVB, I needed to find a way to get in. I was very disappointed that buses would not allow bikes at all. Luckily, I have a list of good taxis. However, living next to Hung Hom train station I was pleased that they would let me on - as long as I remove my front wheel (don't understand why, but oh well).
