The Undeground Compilation CD1 - Recording at Mark-1 studio
Recording at Mark-1 was heaps of fun for all of us guys. In the end we decided to record 'Man Love!' and 'Don't quit your day job' for the Underground compilation cd. I know some of you may ask why we chose 'Don't quit your day job' over 'The Masquerade' or 'Loneliness'. I guess the main reason we chose this song was that we wanted to record at least one song that was not one of the ones we recorded previously. We wanted to give our listeners some variety and our thinking was that we would not include this song in our EP, it would only be available on the Underground cd.
But, if we decide to make a whole album instead of an EP then we would of course include this song. Making an album sounds like a great idea, but it costs lots of money and will be very time consuming. Whereas, if we made an EP it would be less costly and we could get it out by the end of August (hopefully). The EP is a great tool for marketing and we hope that one day a big recording company can snatch us up and pay us to record a whole album. If this really happens, we have the chance to record some of the songs from the EP that we like, and make them better and better. We are constantly striving to make our songs better.
I still need to go back to Mark-1 studios and do some more back up vocals and try and see how I can make Man Love! different to the recording at Soler's studio. Not that there is anything wrong with that recording, its great. But, as I said before, I think that the listeners would appreciate some subtle differences. The song was recorded in a different way than last time, a live recording with the vocals recorded seperately. I can definately say that the guys playing has greatly improved since we last recorded.
I can't wait to go back to Mark-1 and catch up with Koya again. Koya was great and we have made another important contact in the industry. We look forward to playing at one of his shows in the future, be it at The Wanch or Listen Up!
