It has been a year now since I met Jerald in ATTACHE bar in Ma On Shan and later formed FBI.
So, I guess you could say it is our birthday this month or something. It is hard to believe that it has already been a year. We are thinking about having a birthday celebration in ATTACHE at the end of next month. We want to go back to the roots. We are a New Territories band. Believe it or not.
Time has gone fast and we are happy with the way things have turned out.
The first ever footage of us on youtube is from the day I met Nice and Archvictor for the first time. We played three covers at a show in a Ma On Shan community hall after having only met that day. We weren’t even a band yet.
The quality of the camera and the sound equipment is very bad, but still, we have had over 7,500 views for our cover of First Date.
We had success with the first song I had written for the band, ‘The Masquerade’, winning the 2007 I-cable band competition while suffering from bronchitis.
Just getting to the finals was fun. We had interviews and promo videos to shoot. We went crazy and it was a really good male-bonding experience. I wrote Man Love!
After seeing us live at the Underground 50th we were given the go ahead by Soler to support them for their Christmas show. The show was the same day as my birthday. I couldn’t have asked for a better present then playing with my heroes.
We were on news broadcasts about the show and my colleagues saw me on the KCR a few times in one week.
FBI appeared on I-cable again for a show dedicated to the most famous Hong Kong Rock Band, Beyond. We performed “Chern Sing” and I sing in Cantonese.
We went to Soler’s studio and we recorded Man Love!, The Masquerade and Loneliness. We had a chance to work with a great producer, Peter Gorton, and all of the guys at K-town.
We got the chance to rock out with the crew at Rockstar United twice. Rockstar United is a series of band shows organised by a youth organisation by the name of Flight852. We debut “Death to Emo” to a bunch of Emo kids.
We appeared at HK Live and had a really amazing show with a really amazing crowd! We braved a storm and returned to the Underground for number 57.
We recorded two songs, “Man Love!” and “Don’t quit your day job”. for the 1st Underground Compilation CD.
We joined the Alivenotdead birthday celebration. And what a party it was. I had a great time. 24 Herbs were great! The DJ’s were great! Thanks to all of the alivenotdead crew! Thanks Redbull!
We have recently been involved in a charity band show for the Sichuan earthquake. We were the last band to play on a day crowded with great HK talent.
I became an official Alivenotdead artist.
Could I have done more in the last year? Well, how about have a full-time job, part-time study, full-time girlfriend and a part-time girlfriend (just kidding).
So, what does it mean being an official Alivenotdead artist? Well, since FBI is already official and has over 11,000 views, I feel kinda official already. Really, I am not much on my own. But when I am linked up with the other members of FBI something amazing happens, like when Voltron(cartoon) comes together.
I really love singing passionately and I really hope that we can make FBI big one day. I really enjoy acting and hope that I can move into it later on in life. Previously, I studied Theatre Arts at University, but I realized that I wanted to act for the big screen.
I am looking forward to returning to Soler’s studio next month to finish recording for the EP. We will have six songs on the EP so that we can give you value for money. Looking forward to our debut release and the Underground Compilation CD.
