  • New job

    2008-12-15 1:18AM / 標準BLOG

Hi, everyone. It's been awhile since I blogged. There are new direction in my life happened. I waited when all dust settled before sharing with you.

Last year, I quitted my art director job in the broadcast/motion graphics design world (12 years) to pursuit a career change as fashion photographer. I packed my luggage and headed to HK, Shanghai, Bangkok, etc. Shooting for fashion mags, directing commercials and corp videos. After 9 months of non-stop jetsetting between HK and NY. I finally come back to the lovely NY in the late summer where I always feel I truly belong. Fast forward a couple of months with many options and career paths presented in front of me. I got offered a position as an art director for a high-end fashion photography post house. Ideally, I am more suited for freelance lifestyle and also desire working as a photographer. But this job is simply too good not to consider seriously. They called me on Friday (before Thanksgiving), interviewed on Friday end of day, got woken up on monday morning phonecall to make me an offer. The company is called Impact Digital (www.impactdigital.com). It's the number one retouch house in this country and number one in the world in digital capturing facilities. I am currently overseeing retouch department and starting a CG team. Responsibilty is expanding as days go by. Located in the old AT&T building in Tribeca. 360 degree view of NY (it's ridiculous!!!!). Clients are Victoria's Secret, Armani, Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Numero, V magazine, Estee Lauder...We have studios in Miami, LA and Brooklyn. Working on all these V's Secret new campaign and in-store display are seriously good for my health!!! :-P

So this is why I have been MIA for awhile.

  • Pendulum live at Websterhall (NYC)

    2008-10-28 1:08AM / 標準BLOG

Finally have a chance to experience Pendulum live. The energy was crazy! They chose the 100% live band format for their music these days. Honestly, I am not truly buying into the live format for this genre of music. It lacks of the complicated programming DRUM and nasty filthy BASS. Two essential that established the foundation of this genre. It's more like a rock band with synths. The drummer merely playing dancefloor friendly breaks without any flare and breakdown. There are amazing drummers out there can completely do amen breaks live and more. I enjoyed the show but the rock version of "Hold You Color" is nowhere near the massiveness of the original recording as well as many many remixes. I was desparately seeking some bass that going to turn my stomach over.

It's good show. But it's one of those "at least I saw them live" show. Sigh!

  • "SUPERHEROES ON STRIKE" Halloween parade 2008 (NYC)

    2008-10-25 1:05AM / 標準BLOG

OK, this is an official invite to the NY AnD artists to join our Halloween Village parade on 6th Ave. I don't want to make it into an event since we have already quite a big group from other social networking site with my closer personal friends (Yes, that one!) and I have no idea how to send invites to only NY's artists. So here it's on my blog!!!

    Here's what we posted:

The theme will be "SUPERHEROES ON STRIKE"! (Oct 31, 2008)

What's this!!?? Well, we are going to be superheroes...superman, batman, spiderman, X-men, pokemon, the slutty cat woman...Any superhero that got super power and their duty is to save the world!

    But...

On Halloween day, we are pissed! We have been day-in day-out saving the unfair world but we demand this unfair world some fair treatments to us, the superfriends! We want benefits, we want vacations, we want 401k, we want dental care, lower mortgage rate, we want reasonable expectations...We are going to march on Sixth Avenue to unite our frustrations to protest to the humans! Enough is enough!!!!

So far with confirmed and Maybe guests are around 80 people. For those lazy readers, here's the quick summary:

    A. 7pm-Meet up at Naked Lunch (17 Thompson St at Grand) for some drinks. It's only one block east of the parade starting area

    B. 8pm-Walk down on 6th Ave to protest (6th Ave and Grand)

    C. 10:30pm-End at Dusk Lounge (147 W 24th bet 6th & 7th). Look for the Chewbecca at the door. With all these pissed off superheroes? The night is going to be ugly!!!! ;-)

Be ready for a lot of screaming and yelling!!!

    Note:
    A. Remember you have to be a superhero. Or at least make your character super or related to the stories. You can think outside of the DC and Marvel. Think Manga or cartoon if you are lack of ideas.

    B. Make a protest signage...this can be signage on a stick, banner, cardboard, t-shirt, headband, hat...Make a funny statement. Usually all those stupid mundane corp america complains are all good!***

    C. We are going to hire a photographer for the evening so that you don't have to carry your cam in your tights. We will offer $100. Please donate money when you see Charlie or Pam. Just a couple of dollars would do.

    ***
Here are some suggestion to trigger some brain juice flow...
    . Superman "I am Superman, not a Multi-tasking man!"
    . Robin "No more shaving!"
. Aquaman "Show me some respect! I don't just talk to squid all day long"
. Wolverine "Stop calling me for your kids' haircut"
. Cat woman "I am no pussy!"
. "Better 401K and new stapler"
    . "Bank holidays!"
    . "OT!? OT!? OT, again!?"
. Cyclops "Blue Cross Blue Shield should cover my eye-drops"
. Mystique "I don't work on rainny days"

  • Banksy's The Village Pet Store and Charcoal Grill

    2008-10-24 10:24PM / 標準BLOG

The show will only last until the end of Oct. Great little exhibit. The whole place is a pet store. It's located on 7th Ave, right next to Sushi Samba.
