• Emilys workshop and the Cats World International Animation Festival

  A few days ago, I visited my friend Emily Wong. She is a very talented animator, specialized in stop motion. I went to see her workshop at the Artist village near Shek kip mei station. The building, that in the past was a factory and was supposed to be destroy, is now a great place where artists of all kinds have a space to create and show their art. Emily’s workshop is very small but very nice and cozy.

   

  

   

  

   

  

   

   

  Then, a few days after my visit to Emily’s workshop, I went to see her again at the

   Cats World International Animation Festival outside the Cultural Centre in Kowloon.

   Emily, among many other animators, was participating in an open air public workshop, where people can just come, experiment and have fun trying different kinds of animation.

    Emily, of course, was in charge of the stand with the stop motion animation. It was so cool because  people could make their own mini film in a few minutes and then  have a DVD copy of it to take home.

• One Minute Film Festival Workshop

  This Saturday I went to the One minute film festival workshop.

   

  I had a good time there, and I learned lots of new things about filmmaking.

    

  Director Bill Yip, who was teaching part of the workshop, was very nice and funny.

   

  Also Viola, who is a film editor, was very friendly and willing to help everybody.

   

  It was a very nice experience.

       

  There will be another workshop in December if you would like to attend

• My stopmotion project

  Before I moved from Wuhan to Shenzhen, I was working in a stop motion project.

      I watched some amazing shorts made with this technique and I fell in love with this kind of animation. I was so excited with the idea of making a film like this, that I created a story, drew the story board and I started making the sets immediately. 

      I thought that later it would be easy to find somebody in that city that would like to join me in this project. But I was wrong.

      In Wuhan there isn’t a community of artists or people that really love animation or filmmaking, so I couldn’t find anybody to help me.

     Because stop motion require long time and a lot of patient, I knew that I couldn’t finish all by myself, so I decided to pack all set and materials in boxes and postpone this project for the future when I would move to another city and I could find people that like this kind of animation.

  These were suppose to be the metallic armature of the puppets

   

  

   

  It looks scary! I sculpted the head and hands with Super sculpy. Then I was suppose to bake them and when they would be hard as stones make a mold with a special kind of  white hard silicon. When that would be ready I would use the mold to fill it with a soft skin color silicone that looks just like human skin. The problem was that when I put the parts in the oven I forgot to turn off the grill and I burned all the pieces. It was horrible. • Anniversary T-shirts designs

  Hello, I’m so happy that AND will have so soon its second successful year of life. I’m having so much fun and meeting so many nice people here that I thought  I should come up with something happy for the anniversary T-shirts designs contest and this is what I got:
