  • The I Shot Hong Kong finish line looms large

    Several years ago I made a documentary on the tough Melbourne to Hobart yacht race. Yachties battle the shallows of Bass Straight in their tiny offshore racers before heading down the turbulent West Coast of Tasmania where they are hit by the Roaring Forties - a wind force that comes straight off the Antarctic and hits their boats like a sledgehammer. Interviewing the winner after a gruelling four days at sea (He looked like he'd just fought Mike Tyson) I asked him what it felt like to compete in such a tortuous race.

    "Mate, it's like banging your head against a brick wall," he said. "It feels really good when you stop."

    I'm anticipating that same feeling on the night of the wrap party for the I Shot Hong Kong Film Festival ;+). It's been an intense two months finalising the event, with thousands of volunteer hours expended by the ISHK Dream Team over the past 12 months. The Team is passionate about the films, the artists and Hong Kong. It's a great community event: the promotion of Hong Kong as a film centre and the promotion of talented independent filmmakers who produce their work here. But it'll be a great feeling to cross that fiinish line and (hopefully) see everything turn out a success.

    We have some fabulous films on this year and the judges jobs were made very difficult because of the quality.

    So, without further ado, I'm pleased to present the ISHK festival trailer.

    Lindsay Robertson is the creative editor behind the video and I had a ton of fun composing the music for it. Pls enjoy and spread the word: July 1 to July 5 are the festival screenings at the Grand Cinema. Don't forget to book for the after parties on July 1, the opening night screening, and July 3, the awards presentation night and wrap party.
