I love to cook and have been cooking for over 10 years. (When you're a poor college student, eating out is not an option.) Anyway, not to brag but I'm actually quite a good cook. I akin my style to Jamie Oliver, in fact he has greatly influenced the way I cook. He's got awesome cooking style. When I do get to catch him on tv I'm always making mental notes.
After all these years of cooking though, I've always had a problem and I was wondering if anyone out there has any suggestions:
Last week, I was frying up some bacon and a huge glob of oil jumped out of the pan and landed on my fingers. It was actually a pretty bad burn that hurt like a mofo!! My fingers are not looking too good right now. (I was gonna post a pic but didn't want to make everyone sick). Although this is probably the worst case, hot oil splattering on my hands has been a consistent annoyance to me while cooking. Does anyone know how to avoid this without having to wear gloves?
I may be like the biggest loser out there...but ya I turn the heat down to low when i put things in and I use the wok lid as a shield.
It also helps to use super long chopsticks.
I cooked a pound of bacon the other day for the whole family and it worked pretty well.
Ya...but according to my mom and grandma the reason why oil splatters out is because there is water. So they made me heat the pan first so that all the water evaporated and then pat the bacon with a paper towel.
Yes... I'm bored and I can't sleep so here is another tip... If you want less oil on you're bacon...put it in the toaster oven first and zap some of the oil out and then if u still want too...put it in the pan. The bacon will be crispier and have less oil
Make sure your ingredients is not wet. Water makes the oil splatter. Or you can cover the pan once you throw your ingredients in until all the splattering is over. :op
Umm...put the stove on high to heat up the oil...and turn it down to medium or low when you put your ingredients in. Watch the Food Network! It's very educational.
