  • No Dancing in the Hei Hei Club!!!

I found some more of my back up dvds from an older computer and am looking back reminiscing about my time I lived in Hong Kong.   When I first got out there, I got totally caught up in the night life.  It was one of the most exciting places I have ever been and was really an around the clock town.  More than New York or LA could ever hope for!    I think I had spent every weekend for the first few months from Thursday night until Sunday morning in Lan Kwai Fong.

The first girl I dated out there gave me a tour my first night there of the wild environment known affectionately as LKF.   She told me which were the bars I could go to and which of the ones were exclusive and hard to get into.  One was Dragon-I,another was Hei Hei Club, Volar, Sugar etc.   She said she would work her connections to get me in those places.  The 2nd night I was there which was a Saturday, my flatmate and I just walked right into Dragon-I!!!   Which was really exciting to me after my disastrous first date with her but that is another story.

I wound up meeting some friends from myspace and we also got right in to Hei Hei club much to that girl's dismay.   That is also another crazy story for another time but imagine me, 9 girls who I could not remember all of their names, an older gent in a yellow blazer who plays piano one handed in Macau and 2 blokes from the UK on holiday waltzing around LKF.

I laughed so hard when I saw this sign my first time in Hei Hei.

"DEAR CUSTOMERS, PLEASE DO NOT DANCE IN THE CLUB.         THANK YOU, THE MANAGEMENT OF HEI HEI."

Sadly, I never did find out what the stupid meaning of that sign was.   No dancing but you have DJs, a dnace floor, lights and even disco balls!!!   It was one of the funniest signs I saw my whole time out there.  If anyone remembers or knows why that was there, please tell me.

Later on, I did branch out to other places like Cyber-8 and 348 but I really enjoyed nights at Hei Hei despite the no dance policy.

Sadly I believe all those clubs except for Sugar and Volar are gone.  I'll just have to find new places when I get back out there.  I did manage to get into Volar one time in the whole year I was there.

    OOOpppps!!!!!    ^_^

Thanks Etchy!!    I remember the license checks when I used to go clubbing.  I usually got herded off to a k-room to sit and wait with my party I came with.   I used to hate getting emails from friends I partied with out there about bad news, ____ closed up.  Oh well   I'm sure I will have no problem finding cool places to go to when I go back.  It just will be difficult re-staging clubs I visited whenever I can get my tv project off the ground.

its probably because of their license.  some clubs have licenses to be karaoke clubs or 'members clubs' but not discos,  so they're probably posting that up so that when the cops come to check their license they can point to it and say 'see,  we aren't trying to be a disco!'
