Let me first say, there's no place like home. It was quite a weekend, with the most memorable takeaway being either hanging out with andreas gursky or the killer mosquito bites all over my face and eyes.

    On Wuyong:
An anti-fashion fashion show? The best part of the event was definitely Stanley's set, which incorporated a small cotton farm, complete with cotton pickers, a bucket, and a loom. The clothes, presented on a UN-esque corp of "models," were unexciting to say the least. A cross between robes and traditional fisherman wares you mght say... Oh well. Perhaps that was the point though-- China does still have lots of peasants? But you know what? All the peasants i've seen were dressed better than this...

    Qiu Hao @ Woolmark:
I loved his sweaters for Woolmark. I was so proud of him!!! He was the best by far-- even taking down recent knitwear darling, Louise Goldin.

    On French People:
Some were lovely, some were not. I think that it's the same everywhere. There will always be some fantastically open and intelligent people, some rich and snobby people, and so just unmemorable people. Luckily, i met a more of the cool type than the not type. But there were plenty of snubs, as usual.

We spent lots of time just hanging about, with sunday being the most fun as i got to see some of my friends whom i hadnt seen for a while. We sat in the marais and drank way too much rose. I also headed over to the Corto Moltedo showroom and grabbed a bag. John is the loveliest guy ever! Unfortunately i missed the Cesar exhibition and Massa came in last at Silverstone and so MY had to go back to Italy early... I cannot believe i got to hang out with Andreas Gursky btw. His work was the first art ever to make an impression on me.

A parting thought- while the west may still be the center of glamour, i must say i am particularly proud of the cultural developments that are taking place back here at home... I always wonder if i am having the most fun by staying here in HK / BJ. Probably not, as if i lived in the west i would drink a lot more champagne and go to a lot more CRAZYSEXYCOOL parties. But you know what? It's ok. Being away makes me realize how happy i am to be able to learn more about and be a part of the things going on out here...
