    Word up peeps!

Keepin a steady flow of these blogs lately...enjoy it (if you can!) while it lasts...this spurt of tech-energy I’ve been having lately could come to a crashing halt at any time!

Anywho, a few words about the subject above...DP were recently asked to join in on a little TVB fun!  The lads from Audiotraffic had a little pow-wow with a few of the local bands last night to promote their upcoming album release.  The album is set to be available on March 21st and it looks like a pretty cool release party (check their AnD site for details...).

To be honest though, the night was a bit of an odd one...the line up was pretty cool (had Hardpack, Helter Skelter, Audiotraffic and a few others from town) the crowd was very cool (the more they drank, the better we sounded!) but the whole arrangement of the night was a tad different than I expected.

For one, the program was called "Livehouse" and by that you'd think it was live music, or at least a live performance of some kind.  Heck…even broadcasted live or something?  That's what we thought, and that's how we played.  Minor phuck-ups and the sort, but hell, that's rock n roll right?  The show must go on!  But I was surprised to hear a few of the bands (I think there was more than one?) recording their set a second time so that they could fix up their mistakes...??

How is that live??  How is that your honest sound?  I understand you wanna sound good, but please, let the people hear what you play the first time...that would make it more of a "live" performance (wouldn't it?).

Secondly...I understand it's a "privilege" to be on TVB and all, but with the money those folk have danglin outta their pockets, would it have been a huge problem to offer a drink or two on the house?  At 68 bucks a beer, it's a hard bargain to swallow...and I'm talking local bottles of Tsing Tao that ya'd get at 7-11 for about 6 bucks, not a nice ale that ya don't mind chuckin some dollars for...and I was thirsty I tell ya!!  Came home thinner...unfortunately the weight was lost from my wallet!!

Anyways, I don't wanna come off like I didn't have fun...it was fun...and funny at points...and I had a blast hangin with Adrian and Don (like I usually do!).  Those cats are cool folk!

...but I hadda get a move on after I heard one of the acts attempting to play a Green Day cover (for a second time!).  Aiya!

Alight...that's all for now...just my 2 cents on "apparent" live performances...we'll keep ya posted on when it's actually gonna be aired (that is, if we’re not cut from the tape after this blog…hahaha!)...think they're saying some time in March right now?  As for time and date...stay tuned!

Peace out n back to work for me...

seems like the main problem is that there was a miscommunication in advance about what kind of event this was going to be... thats not the other band's fault

But I think Kevin is right, we should be positive about this no matter what... Everyone (including TVB) was there to help Audiotraffic, let's keep that in mind.

loads of explanations on why the retake is necessary.

I just know that as long as I am alive not dead, I can't retake my life cos of any technical or whatever problems that I face.

How many songs did each band play? Not a lot I guess. I dont think it s wise to play a green day cover, unless there's anything special about it, or the band want to be "that green day cover band".

    Dearest Kev,

...not gonna get in a bitchin argument here...but i'm sorry, gotta stick with the fact that if it's gonna be called a "live" show, then it should be "live" music...no matter what goes on...mic probs or not.  That's what "live" music should be about.  I appreciate what TVB are trying to do here, but it just doesn’t give off that “real” vibe when the music is all squeaky clean and stuff… from the looks of some of the other comments though, I’m not alone on this matter.  Big ups to y’all!

Plus, not tryin to show a lack of support to the gang, if that was the case, then don't ya think we would have turned down the offer to play?  We love Don and Adrian and wish em all the best with this release :D  And yeah, we may have left early, but seriously dude, Green Day??  And out of all their songs, that one was picked??  Plus, we were pretty much at the venue from 4pm...for sound check.  It was gettin late and I need my beauty sleep.  Work at 6am on Monday comes early.

...but seriously, if yer gonna get up and showcase yourself, then i think covers should be left out...not really showcasing any original HK talent there...

Anywho, thanks so much for your support while we played.  It was really nice to see you in the crowd.  Always a pleasure chatting.  You guys sounded great, although I think the first set had more energy.  Shame about the mics.  Hope it works out better next time for ya.  Lookin forward to seein you at the next DP gig :D

    Thanks for your comments.

    Peace!

Yep it was me that wanted to redo the take cus of technical probs with the bass amp durin our set....Sorry it got to u guys but we are glad that all our other friends and the alivenotdead.com brothas and sistas didnt mind and still kept a positive vibe about it since we were all there supporting our good friends audiotraffic....The point of the show wasnt to play  a flawless set, but to get a good tv recording done to support audiotraffic's 1st tvb music programme....By da way how did u like audiotraffics set?....oh yeah thats right, U  left when hearin another AnD artist do the green day cover (for the 1st time) sound check dun count....I thought being in da alivenotdead community was supposed to be supportive of one another....Anyway u guys did a good show that day and we were there cheerin for ya's and will be there the next time too....

Sorry Dave about the arrangements last nite... i know it's sound a bit odd dat we call 'live house' but actually it's a recording program... ummm... but u guyz really done a good show... hope u still have fun... in fact i know is really odd dat we have to stop every single part and have da MC doing some hooker stuffz in between... but for TV broadcasting.... we've no choice tho... but i do have lots of fun... cuz i keep drinking n drinking like hell.. haha... anyway, hope to see u guyz' live performing someday... n hope everything is going well for ya new album n summer trip to UK! Maybe not "live" but thankfully not "house" either.. Perhaps they need work on the name a little.

    great performance last night!  =)

i think only one band had to redo part of their set (it wasn't for the green day cover).  and that was because something messed up and it didn't get recorded from what i heard.  i don't think it had anything to do with the performance not being good.  and actually, the first take was better than the second cuz there was a problem with one of the mikes the second time.

oh ya, the album is going to release on march 8th.  we'll have details up soon!
