Word up peeps!
Keepin a steady flow of these blogs lately...enjoy it (if you can!) while it lasts...this spurt of tech-energy I’ve been having lately could come to a crashing halt at any time!
Anywho, a few words about the subject above...DP were recently asked to join in on a little TVB fun! The lads from Audiotraffic had a little pow-wow with a few of the local bands last night to promote their upcoming album release. The album is set to be available on March 21st and it looks like a pretty cool release party (check their AnD site for details...).
To be honest though, the night was a bit of an odd one...the line up was pretty cool (had Hardpack, Helter Skelter, Audiotraffic and a few others from town) the crowd was very cool (the more they drank, the better we sounded!) but the whole arrangement of the night was a tad different than I expected.
For one, the program was called "Livehouse" and by that you'd think it was live music, or at least a live performance of some kind. Heck…even broadcasted live or something? That's what we thought, and that's how we played. Minor phuck-ups and the sort, but hell, that's rock n roll right? The show must go on! But I was surprised to hear a few of the bands (I think there was more than one?) recording their set a second time so that they could fix up their mistakes...??
How is that live?? How is that your honest sound? I understand you wanna sound good, but please, let the people hear what you play the first time...that would make it more of a "live" performance (wouldn't it?).
Secondly...I understand it's a "privilege" to be on TVB and all, but with the money those folk have danglin outta their pockets, would it have been a huge problem to offer a drink or two on the house? At 68 bucks a beer, it's a hard bargain to swallow...and I'm talking local bottles of Tsing Tao that ya'd get at 7-11 for about 6 bucks, not a nice ale that ya don't mind chuckin some dollars for...and I was thirsty I tell ya!! Came home thinner...unfortunately the weight was lost from my wallet!!
Anyways, I don't wanna come off like I didn't have fun...it was fun...and funny at points...and I had a blast hangin with Adrian and Don (like I usually do!). Those cats are cool folk!
...but I hadda get a move on after I heard one of the acts attempting to play a Green Day cover (for a second time!). Aiya!
Alight...that's all for now...just my 2 cents on "apparent" live performances...we'll keep ya posted on when it's actually gonna be aired (that is, if we’re not cut from the tape after this blog…hahaha!)...think they're saying some time in March right now? As for time and date...stay tuned!
Peace out n back to work for me...
