Plan, Prepare, Expect

If you don’t have a target, you sure as hell won’t hit it.
Zig Ziglar says, “Desire is the fuel for motivation.”
It’s crucial that we have a plan in life, for our wants and desires etc…
The bible says, “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life.”

I’m reminded that the foundation of everything I do MUST be Jesus Christ.
He is our rock. Our foundation. If you build anything else on with Him as your foundation it will be meaningless.
Like the builder who built his house on the sand versus the rock, you won’t be shaken when the winds and storms of life come pouring down. Otherwise when the pressure is on, everything will come crumbling down. God’s kingdom is righteousness, peace, and joy. That’s the life that I want. It’s the life I choose to have, regardless of my circumstances.

Life without purpose isn’t much of a life. Jesus said, “i’ve come to give life and life abundantly.”
Success isn’t a destination, it’s in the journey.

Say what?

Sometimes life is just hard. Today seemed especially tough. I woke up earlier and went back to bed. Looking at my circumstances I should be happy and thankful, but let’s just face it. I’m not. I could be somewhere, I could be doing something, I could be blah blah blah.

I woke up a second time this feeling a bit more refreshed. This reminded me of the bible verse, “His mercies are new every morning.” Also, “I will give you rest.” and.. “Those who wait on the Lord will not grow weary…” So I began having a conversation with God.

Ed: What are the lies that I believe God?
God: You feel as though you’re worthless
me: What’s the truth?
God: You’re my son.
me: So, how does that change anything?
God: I know you better than you know yourself.
me: okay, so…
God: You are amazingly wonderfully and fearfully made in my image.
me: …
God: You are amazing Ed.
me: okay, so now what. I don’t feel that way sometimes.
God: Trust me, you are who I say you are. I know you better than you know yourself, and your what you perceive in your circumstances.

What you believe will determine what you do. I need to believe what God says about me, and not what anyone or anything around me might say.

Run for the hills

And David said to the men who stood by him, “What shall be done for the man who kills this Philistine and takes away the reproach from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?” (1 Samuel 17:26 ESV)

The spirit of God goes throughout his army looking for one person who is not afraid. God is looking for “one” person to stand in the gap. He searches for “one” man/woman who will be courageous.

“All the men of Israel, when they saw the man, fled from him and were much afraid. ”

How do I overcome fear?

1. Remember which army you are fighting for. I am part of the army of the “living God.” For if God is for us who can be against us?

2. Remember God’s faithfulness.

“And David said, “The Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” And Saul said to David, “Go, and the Lord be with you!” (1 Samuel 17:37 ESV)

Remembering the things God has done in my past and his faithfulness will give me faith to fight my future battles. God is the alpha and omega, he is outside of time. Be faithful with the small and he will add to it. Consider it a joy when facing trials, for it brings about character. God is more concerned about our character than he is with our comfort.

3. Prophesy into your destiny.

This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you down and cut off your head. And I will give the dead bodies of the host of the Philistines this day to the birds of the air and to the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel, (1 Samuel 17:46 ESV)

David makes a declaration on behalf of God’s army. We have power in the name of Jesus christ. I can do all things in Him… Ask in my name and it will be given. Pray and believe it is done. Declare God’s promises over your life.

Remembering the promise

Genesis 27

After hearing Isaac tell Esau to go out and hunt game(to receive the blessing) Rebecca prompted Jacob to go and get the blessing before his brother returned.

I never understood this story, of why would Rebecca tell her son to steal her older brothers blessing. Why would we deceive his father and gain something dishonorably?. It wasn’t until last night i gained a little more insight on this story.

Reading earlier chapters we see how while Jacob and Esau were in the womb, God told Rebecca “the older shall serve the younger.”
Reading up to the point of receiving the blessing we see how Esau forsook his birthright, and also grew to be a problem for the Isaac and Rebecca.

Remembering the promise that God had on Jacob’s life allowed Rebecca to help her son walk into his calling and ultimately become the nation of Israel.

Reading this i’m reminded to remember the promises and dreams that God has over my life and over those around me. That i’m to remember that God has an ultimate plan, and how can I continue to pursue Him.

Building the wall

This morning I listened to banning liebscher, and again he preached about the process. Really hit home again. What he said is so true. “It is dangerous to be out of season.”

The example he used was a semi truck that “jackknifes.” basically what happens is that the trailer is moving faster than the truck causing the the whole vehicle to loose control.

Whatever season we are in, God has us there for a reason. He is God, and I am not. How ever long he wants me in this season, Lord let me do it well.
