  • Way Back When, When I Figured Stuff Like This Was Awesome

    I don't think I've drawn much attention to my older, older, stuff, like about 2 years ago or so, but I figured hey, whats the harm in posting them? Not that I think they're terrible by any means, but I figure it gives a taste of more of what I was doing originally compared to nowadays...

    When I started getting "ok" with fight choreo and editing, I thought it would be HILARIOUS (between me and some of my friends) if we did this Donnie Yen type of parody. Not that we have anything against Mr. Yen, but we do enjoy sometimes laughing at his over the topness of his olden movies. Movies like "Mismatched Couples", which has an AWESOME credits intro:

    Anyway I thought it would be teh awesome if I did a parody of that, and Donnie Yen ridiculousness in general. So here that be:

    Looking back on it, its ok at best, but at the same time, I had a TON of fun making it and really, it's one of those things you make with some good friends and you always return to it with good/hilarious memories.

    Another odd, random parody was this idea to parody an SNL (Saturday Night Live) Digital Short called "Peyote". Anyway, we used our excuse to shoot an old, old, test fight and turned it into this monstrosity:

    Weird and Random as usual, but I guess that was the type of comedy we were going for. =P

    Finally, I cap it off with what basically started my career doing stunt coordination for other people. I made a short while in school for a class as a way to show that fight scenes can have humor and drama and also be aesthetically rhythmic, like dancing. Basically showing that it isn't all just brutality and whatnot (not like theres anything wrong with that either). So I ended up making this really music based short called "For The Win" which has an interesting premise as to how we got the name. But I digress. This was shot in 4 days btw, so mind if its dated compared to what im doing now haha:

    So why all the nostalgia? Well I'm over at my friend's house in Boston. His name is Leo and hes shooting a short film which does a gothic interpretation on Red Riding Hood. Anyway I play a random werewolf that has to fight Red. If any of you have ever seen a movie called "Brotherhood of the Wolf", more or less thats the style hes going for. But yea, I'm here and he showed me his old, old vids and that reminded me of MY old, old vids. So I just wanted to share that with ya too. =P
