    I'm a big proponent of tap water when it's safe to drink. I think it's a huge luxury in the States to be able to water our lawns with drinkable water whereas in other parts of the world, lack of drinking water is a serious issue...

    I think some people might imagine pristine snow capped mountains with nymph like creatues filling water bottles whereas I envision sweaty, unbathed laborers filling water bottles with a hose.

    In HK, the answer to the question "Is the tap safe to drink?" seems to be mixed (see here or here). Luckily, I am a huge fan of  hot water pots .

    One of these days, when I have a week to spare, maybe I'll give the unboiled stuff a try.

    ya, i should boil water more.  i'm so bad...  
    but usually i like to drink juice...

    here in new york, I drink bottled water 100% of the time.....have you heard of Smartwater?  Basically water with some added electrolytes.  I tried the Brita for several years, but then just got too lazy to fill it and also change the filter every month, plus I don't think those filters are that great.  Only in California do I drink the tap water.

    I stick with bottled water there, got sick once on "boiled" water....

    Is boiling enough? I'd also use the PUR water purification thingy.

    I usually boil the water even though they say it's safe to drink regular tap water.  That's just my opinion and yeah, the electric water thermos is sooo great.
