Eric Tan emerged recently as the fresh face for a new generation of earnest HK based singer-songwriters. While Tan's work is as confessional, intimate, and blues-based as that of old-schoolers like Eric Clapton & Jacky Cheung, his approach is considerably updated. His rhythmic, often bluesy guitar and vocal style borrow more from John Mayer and Leehom Wang than from any baby-boomer types, and his geeky digital trends made him instantly appealing to teenagers & tastemakers the region over.
