bro Gilgamesh, this is a temple of Buddha temple name Borobudur in indonesia, 10 hour by car from my home. its one of the biggest Buddhist temple in the world. if im not wrong, its about 1000years old. Great place to see and calming mind. do u know this? :)

about few minutes from Borobudur.. there is a Hindu tample.. also one of the biggest in the world.made about 1000years ago. called Prambanan temple.

wow,borobudur. I really want to visit this place.It's been long time thinking about going over there though. Actually I've never been to indonesia yet. People around me..so many of them are been to Bali.

Gautama Buddhas has lived from circa 563 BCE to 483 BCE, so as you can see, his story is more then double so old then this place.....=)

Thanks for telling us more about it, very interesting. What a beautiful & ancient place, I can see why you would love to go there.

I have a question. It's a little off the topic of your temple, hope you don't mind. Have you been to the Yonghegong Temple in Beijing? Very busy with tourists, but I had a great experience in the hall where the monks gather to chant.

I had never been in the presence of a group of monks chanting in unison. It was an awe inspiring experience. It brought my mind & spirit to a wonderful place. I'll never forget it. : )

there is no historical record of borobudur, it was said that the archeologist predict the age from the style of the base of the temple, that shows 800th century of javanese style. the temple was forgotten long time ago, and founded in 1900 by the Dutch, with a very worst condition.
the sculpture in borobudur from the bottom show the human life and legend into the enlightment of buddha to the top.
