  Last Saturday was the annual Berkeley Ball, a formal dinner ball for Cal alumni and friends presented by the Berkeley Club of Hong Kong. As a fellow alumni, I was also photographing the event so I was pretty busy all evening, although I was still able to enjoy parts of the evening, especially the Men's Octet performance.
  
  There were 350 guests (alumni and friends), and the event was sold out. Who knew there were so many Cal alumni here in HK?! I won't say what year I graduated (that'd give my age away...hehe), but let's just say that it's been a long time since I've been in a room with so many Cal people, including a professor (guest speaker, Dr. George Smoot III).

  The Men's Octet was there, and they were amazing! If you're not familiar, they're a widely popular 8-member male student acappella group at UC Berkeley. Aside from their regular concerts around the Bay Area and the States, they also perform for students on the Berkeley campus plaza at lunchtime every week or so. As a student (oh so many years ago), it was at these lunchtime performances that I first discovered them. Ahh, the memories... :)
