Swamped like Superman?!??

6個評論Pardon my tardiness at posting new blog entries on the things I was supposed to be writing about lately, like my Taiwan trip, and the Onimal and "The King & I" stuff, and so on... I've been pretty swamped lately.
On a personal level, my Dad's health has taken a turn for the worse... the problem began on Thursday, and he went to the hospital on Friday, they did something to him and sent him home, telling him to come back again on Tuesday... without revealing too much here, let's just say that he may be requiring surgery, but we won't know for sure until tomorrow (Tuesday) when he goes back to the hospital to see the doctor.
At the moment, my Dad's health is our main worry, everyone at home is ill at ease right now.
Last year, my Dad spent Christmas in hospital, 'cos his health failed him the night before Christmas Eve... we just hope he won't be doing the same thing again this year... I think we'd much prefer having him around celebrating Christmas with the family.
Other than that, I've been working working working... it's the time of year to renew client contracts and so on, so I've been busy with lotsa lotsa mailing list stuff... oh-so-tedious, but it has got to be done.
I've also been busy with some "new beginnings"... those of you who know me better should be able to guess what I'm going on about here... but if not, and if the curiousity is killing you, or if you just hate guessing, send me a private message.
And being the end of the year, with the festive season coming, it is time to start doing some springcleaning at home... I still haven't quite unpacked from the Taiwan trip... yikes!

Gosh, so much stuff goin' on and so little time! sigh!

Somebody saaaaaaave me! (song by Remy Zero, with excerpts from "Smallville")

Sometimes I feel like I gotta be Superman... it's not easy to be me. (song by Five For Fighting, with excerpts from "Smallville")

Oh no, don't get me started now... yipes, I think it's already a little too late for that... once I get started, it's kinda hard to stop... but once I stop, it's also kinda hard to get started up again... but anyways, since I started already... here I go again!
My Dad's favourite superhero is Superman... I got to watch all of Christopher Reeves' Superman movies in the cinema, when I was a kid, 'cos my Dad just could not get enough of Superman.
But I have to admit that there are some scenes in the Superman movies that I know I will never forget... and this is one of them... it made me want to take flight myself... ("Can You Read My Mind?" by Maureen McGovern, with Margot Kidder as Lois Lane, and Christopher Reeves as Superman)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HtJsJQHyLhU
Gosh, I got goosebumps just watching that clip!
As I was searching around on YouTube for what could possibly be the best fan-made Superman clips, I came across these wonderful clips... and they ALL gave me goosebumps!
Or maybe it's just that Christopher Reeves was in them... I still think he's the best Superman ever, some people say that he really WAS Superman, but hmmm, I'm not sure I would take it quite that far... Tom Welling comes in second place for me in "Smallville"... I think they both portrayed Superman well.
Superman may be the "man of steel", and yet there is also something sweet and tender about him, he is as sensitive as he is compassionate for the plight of ordinary human beings, and he has a certain vulnerability within... you feel for him, because he's got all these amazing superpowers, and yet he is really all alone in this world, being the last son of Krypton, Kal-El.
Have you noticed how the heroes we admire tend to be beings with superpowers, and yet have vulnerabilities and weaknesses in them? And if they are beings with superpowers who lack such qualities, have you noticed how we tend to call them villains? So I guess this means that it's OK to possess superpowers, as long as you are not all powerful and you still have some weaknesses or vulnerabilities in you... hmmm, food for thought.
Anyways, before I get too carried away, maybe literally(??)... here are the Superman tribute clips that made little bolts of electricity run down my spine as I was watching them on YouTube... enjoy!
Superman Tribute Video #1
This first video opens with a snippet of Jerry Seinfeld having a little chat with our superhero... I like the way the different clips of Superman were put together for this one video, and yet it still comes together as a whole... well done, methinks!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-Z2GtFaqV4
Superman Tribute Video #2
I like how this one looks like a music video... the song used here is "My Sacrifice" by Creed... good stuff! I think this was very well put together, and it has some of the most memorable scenes from the Superman movies.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VzLY8IODBtM
Superman Tribute Video #3
Normally, I don't really enjoy watching videos in YouTube that are made out of a bunch of pictures strung together in a slideshow format, 'cos most of them aren't much to shout about... but this one was an exception to the rule, so I just HAD to include it here for your viewing pleasure.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eissel9v07o
And finally, you know I just HAD to leave the very best one to the last... (or well hey, at least I think this is the best... *grin*)
Superman Tribute Video #4
When I started looking for Superman tribute clips on YouTube, I wondered what I might find, and I did kinda have something in mind that I was looking for... now this clip really takes the cake!I love it that it makes use of John Williams' original "Superman" score and combines it with clips from Superman 1, 2 & 3... to me, this video really embodies the Superman trilogy in all its retro glory... it's quite a large file, so you might have to wait some time for it to download completely, but trust me, this is worth the wait... kudos to whoever it is that made this clip, it's just fabulous!

So which of the 4 tribute videos above was your favourite Superman tribute video?
