  • Leaving a rainy city and arriving in another rainy city... :-(

    I left a rainy city, London and flew off from Heathrow Terminal 5 for the first time.

    There was a big fiasco when it opened a few months ago, so I was a bit worried about the terminal.

    But it was very smooth and unexpectedly more efficient than other terminals. So I had plenty of time to work on the script at the airport......

    The BA007 took off more or less on time and soon after we had a nice chicken teriyaki. It's very funny that Japanese chicken teriyaki is becoming a more ordinary choice of food in Europe.

    I started working on the script after the meal and I found out that the new script, which I received just one day ago before my departure from London, has been completely re-written and I have to translate it asap for the shooting. But how?? Where is the time?

    I saw the beautiful mountains from the window....

    I'm very happy that I was served my favourite yoghurt on the plane the following morning. Unfortunately, I couldn't sleep at all ....as usual...I always try to sleep less the night before the flight and make myself tired so I can sleep on the plane, but it still didn't work.... :-(

    Does anyone sleep well on a plane?? If so, tell me a tip!!

    It was rainy Tokyo..... Not much different from London :-(

    "Yokoso! JAPAN" - I was welcomed by Japan at least....hahaha...

    The director and the other members of staff were supposed to arrive from Beijing an hour later so I was waiting for them at the same airport, but it turned out that I had to wait more than 2 hours. But it doesn't bother me at all, I'm in a Chinese film crew now. I'm totally relaxed. All my time has already been given to them anyway..... if you are in the filming business, you are just waiting, waiting and .......waiting....sometimes we have no idea what we are waiting for....but we have to wait. This is absolutely a part of the business.

    Finally 12 people including the director arrived from Beijing and we left Narita airport for a hotel in town.

    After arriving at this hotel, I found it's unique! The receptionists are all Chinese and the signs are written in Chinese. We had a Chinese meal in a restaurant downstairs. And I received a Chinese (mainland style) service from the waitresses.....

    Me: "Where are the chopsticks?"

    Waitress: "The chopsticks are there (on another table), you take it from there by yourself!"

    Thanks a bunch! I'm already ready for that sort of working environment anyway...

    "a little China in Tokyo" - this is my new working space now. The city of Tokyo is in front of me, but I'm stuck in "a little China" like under house-arrest and I can't go anywhere. The translation of the new script is my top priority right now.....

    I found the best way to sleep on long flights is to wear ear plugs and a sleep mask.  Once I block out the distractions, if I'm tired, I'm out like a light.  I have to leave instructions with the stewardesses to wake me up for meals, otherwise I'd sleep right through those, too.

    I like the way this blog is written, together with the pictures it's well illustrated.  For I am not an actor, I found myself to be glad to learn about life in the acting world.

    You know what that means right?  You brought the rain with you.  Teriyaki is popular here, too.  Beef & chicken.  Not to mention there's plenty of different bottle sauces in the markets.  I accidentally discovered what puts me to sleep on a plane.  Sting!!  I play 10 Sommners Tales followed by Mercury Falling (or w/e it's called) and I'm asleep.  I usually wake up when it goes off so I play Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite.  I've never heard song 4 on the plane.  I fall back to sleep during 3.  I also don't take morning flights unless where I'm going is that far ahead or behind  me in time.  If I'm going to arrive in the am in a country I leave here in the pm (accounting for travel time of course).  If need be, I wont sleep the night before.  good luck translating though i don't understand why you are doing it or why you have to.  It must be hard to be home and stuck in what is like the Chinese embassy.

    oooook in case he'd never done it before, the hotel leave's Junichi instructions on how to poo.  I'm not gonna lie when I started planning my trip to Japan, I had to look up info on toilets.  I want to stay in a ryokan for 2 nights but I'm going to need western toilets. I can't figure the others out.

    わあ、日本においでだったんですね!♪
    でもお仕事大変そうですね…(^^;;;
    頑張って下さい!(^-^)/
    暫くはこちらに?

    ところで私は飛行機に乗ると、離陸したのも知らないくらいにスグに眠ってしまいます(笑)なんでだろう?自分でもよく判らないのですが、人からは「遠足の前の子供みたいに前の日からはしゃいでるからだ」と言われます…(^^;;;
