  actually, i think people are remembering him at his peak.  i was never really a fan of his later stuff, and didn't care for all the plastic surgery or charges against him.  but i did like him a lot in the 80's and early 90's.  that's what i'm remembering, at least.  i think it's the same for a lot of other people.
