   Synopsis

  1965 is a riveting drama about how a group of people divided by race language and religion, saw their lives profoundly transformed by on single defining moment in the history of a young nation. The movie will take us on a perilous journey that begins with the birth of a nation in China and ends with the birth of another on an island cradled at the end of the Malay Peninsula.

   Main Characters

   Khatijah. Early 40s. Malay Female.

  Widower raising 2 sons on her own and loses her youngest son in the racial riots in 1964. Beautiful and suffered. Lives in grief and rage but tries to maintain her dignity and grace.

   Adi. Early 20s. Malay Male.

  Eldest son of Khatijah. Believes in racial harmony in Singapore. Joins the police force and is mentored my Sergeant Cheng (Lead)

   Seng. 20s. Chinese Male.

  Younger brother of Sergeant Cheng (Lead) Possess good looks and irresistible charm. His charm hides a deep secret fear that he is really a coward at heart.

   Sue. Late 30s early 40s. Caucasian Female.

  Wife of British Civil Servant. Reunites with her old uni sweet heart in Singapore (Raj). Will protest against racist rulings in her community.

   

  Raj. Late 30s early 40s. Indian Male.

  A intrepid and cynical reporter from Malaysia who covers the riots as well as political news. Charismatic, Scholarly and measured gentleman from Oxford. Sue’s university sweet heart.

   

  ASP Watson. 40s Caucasian Male.

  Smug, supercilious, smokes a pipe. Boss of Sergeant Cheng (Lead). Sees himself as superior and just waiting out his time in this wasteland.

  Project: DSM corporate video (Life and material science innovation)

  Shoot: up to 11 days shoot + 6 days of travel + 1 fitting day

  Territory: Worldwide

  Version: 1 x 30mins + 1 cut down 2 mins

  Usage: Internet, Trade Fairs

  Duration: 3 years

  Nov 04-14 China (Shanghai, Beijing) 1 day fitting / 6 Shooting dates/ 3 travel days

  Nov 18-24 (Netherlands, Germany) 5 Shooting dates / 3 travel days

   

  Talent Requirements:

  Male Actor or Presenter, Chinese, 35-45 years old, English Speaking. To play the role of a Journalist in the video. Interesting, intellectual, witty, curious personality who could be an established family man. Not your typical model-type. An Asian Tin Tin perhaps.

   

  Audition Requirements:
  1. Short Introduction, Name, Age, Nationalty, Languages.
  -- show Hands, show profile

  2. Scene in a car. He should pretend his two Kids are in the car and they play a game. They watch passers-by and guess their profession/job. He can make up the conversation with the kids.

  3. Interview scene. Since he is a reporter trying to find out the truth about DSM he should play an Interview scene. He can ask questions about the casting person’s daily life or even ask investigative questions. What the directors want to see is the actor in an authentic natural conversation with his interview partner.

• Auditioning for Eat Pray Love

  We are still casting for Eat, Pray, Love, a movie staring Julia Roberts and Javier Bardem. Directed by Ryan Murphy.
  
  While trying to get pregnant, a happily married woman realizes her life needs to go in a different direction, and after a painful divorce, she takes off on a round-the-world journey. Based on the memoir by Elizabeth Gilbert.
  
  Location : BALI
  Travel dates: 1st November - 15th November (or Longer)

   ROLES:
  (1) Male, Asian, 60-70 years old
  Medicine man. Scenes are with the lead actors. He should be old, elfin, earthy, rustic, funny, slight, full of character. And perhaps he doesn't even have a full set of teeth. Real tribal feel to this guy. He SHOULD NOT be a charicature, but rather an experienced actor with a real performance. Strong command of English required.

  I am looking for a pair of hosts who have great energy, can work a live audience and are not afraid of pulling pranks in public. A pair who have great chemistry, timing and can build rapport with celebrity guests as well.

  Episode:            Episode Two – “MYANMAR”

   

  Confirmed Lead Cast:

  James Purefoy as “Teddy Rist”.

  Neve Campbell as “Olivia Rist”.

   

  We are casting for the characters below:

   

  FEMALE (40 years old) DAW AUNG SAN SUU KYI – the real life Prime Minister elect who is a prisoner in her own country as the Generals have control.  Aged in her 60’s she looks in her 40’s very petite, has an inner beauty.  Nobel prize winner (her son collected it as she wouldn’t leave her Country).  We are not looking for a look a like – it’s the essence that is important.  She went to Oxford University and married a British academic and lived in the UK for many years – hence her accent is more British.  A couple of scenes 63 lines

  GUEST LEAD 

   

  MALE (late 40s) GENERAL WIN - Late 40’s very tough and difficult to deal with has some confrontational scenes with our hero Teddy Rist. Has about  3 scenes 50 lines- we see him in Prison at the end of the episode. GUEST LEAD

   

  MALE (in his 20s) SAW MAUNG - Driver who happens to pick up Teddy. Totally out for himself and wont put himself in danger. Would sell his sister if he could. Should be able to drive… about 8 scenes 37 lines. GOOD ROLE

   

  MALE (in his 30s) THANG - Peasant who works in the Ruby mine, his 12 year old daughter is sick in the hospital 7 scenes  7 lines some in Burmese

   

  MALE (in his 40s) KHIN - RUBY MINE MANGER – Tough and totally in Control – has one scene with TEDDY about 12 lines

   

  MALE (in his 40s – 50s) GENERAL NYO - Above Win and just as threatening. One scene 20 lines

   

  Actors applying should have a valid passport and be ready to travel. Knowledge of the Burmese language is a great advantage.

   

  Actors who are of Burmese nationality should also state that clearly in their submissions.
