• BJJ Tournament in HK

  Have been really busy but I've been meaning to make a post on the BJJ Tournament that took place in Kowloon on Jan. 27th.  It was a competition between all the bjj clubs in hk.  Our Club came Second in the overall team scores. We took 5 Golds and 3 silvers in the competition!  It was really exciting to watch and cheer on our team mates!  There had to have been over 50 ppl. competing....As for the female fighters, there were only 5 girls in total including myself and 3 of us belong to the same club.  Not only that the 2 other girls who belong to Kowloon bjj were blue belts and much more experienced than us.  Normally we should be fighting someone in our same belt level and in our same weight class but this was not the case for us.  Bjj is obviously a male dominated sport so the girls usually have to just make due with whoever shows up.  The 3 of us white belts didn't stand a chance against the blue belts but we tried our best and had fun doing it.  My fight lasted 3-4 mins. and unfortunately i spent a lot of time trapped underneath my opponent who had a weight advantage on me.  I could tell she was very skilled because she didn't give me much room to move....Was one of the most frustrating experiences in my life!  In the end i lost by armbar!  Was disappointing ofcourse but a good learning experience nevertheless.  There is something good that came out of it though because the following class, to my surprise!!!!.....my instructor awarded me my first stripe!  Some pics of the fights and one group pic of our club:
