  It has been a very intense month for me busy rehearsing for Shanghai Blues Musical.
  Few more days to the opening. Very Nervous and excited.
  
  Weeks ago I did an online interview for www.fifo.sg. Here's what I said.

  She played a dying getai singer in Royston Tan's recent film 881 and charmed her way into the hearts of Singaporeans. In her latest endeavour, Mindee Ong will play (yet again) another songtress who is this time caught in a love triangle.
   
  Written by Hong Kong playwright Raymond To and directed by Toy Factory's Chief Artistic Director Goh Boon Teck, Shanghai Blues The Musical will see Ong transported back to 1930s Shanghai, and a love that is torn apart by war and chaos.
   
  Fifo talks very quickly to her about her participation in the upcoming musical.
   
  Your starring role in 881 launched you to become a household name in Singapore, how do you feel about that?
   
  I am very humbled by the experience.
  
  What are your thoughts about doing a film like 881 that explored a dying tradition in Singapore?
   
  I'm glad to be a part of this film and that the film is able to revive a local culture that will so easily be forgotten with time. It's a very good platform to re-instate this culture and let it regain its place in our modern society.
   
  Your latest role in Shanghai Blues is a girl who is part of a love triangle with the 1930s Shanghai jazz scene as a backdrop. Tell us more about the character you play and what she believes in.
   
  The character I play is a very righteous Songstress who deeply believes in love. She portrays a very different person from what she really is  and contains her emotions within herself.
   
  What kind of research did you have to do for the role and the time period?
   
  Much research was done to study the ambience, the costumes and mannerism during those time periods.
   
  What's the best thing about doing period pieces, eg. 881 and Shanghai Blues?
   
  It allows me to go back in time and experience the lifestyle during that era  and to feel the mood and atmosphere.
  
  Finally, if you had a craving for chinese food (say Shanghainese cuisine) where would you go for it in Singapore?
   
  I love the fried dumpling & sweet and sour soup at Margaret Drive, Din Tai Fung & Crystal Jade La Mian.
