Born in Canada to Chinese parents, I moved here in 1994 and worked as an architect for 4 years before pursuing my greater interest in photography and art. Having published my second book themed and titled \'The Asian Male\', I\'m set to continue and explore all things that make this Universe as diverse and interesting as it is.

    Last night, I decided to update my newsletter email list by adding Collected Emails from my Thunderbird to my email marketing database server. By accident, there was one contact that I forgot to delete from the list. This particular person, who I business correspondence with him (and hence the reason why his email appears on my Collected Emails) happens to work at Giorgio Armani, had asked not be included in the newsletters/database. As a result, this morning, I got back the nastiest email I had ever received to date indicating that he had no interest in anything I do, not my photography, not my newsletter.... and then threatened me by say he was going to send the authorities for spamming him. The latter portion of his email was written in large caps and plenty of exclamation marks, indicating he was screaming at me, loudly. I was rather taken back, in a very disheartened fashion. I quickly sent an email to him indicating it was never my intention to cause him harm nor grieve. Nevertheless, the morning message from this guy sent this wave of darkness into my chest. I pondered over his vile words that permeated through me like a knife. This felt very personal, and I don't know why. Perhaps, it was because he really, really despised me...no, hated me for making his life miserable with that opt-in mailer. I think I'll just crawl back to bed...

    It sounds really childish on his part, I must say so I wouldn't let you get dragged down by his unprofessional behavior. On the flip side, if you want to retaliate, I'm sure there are a couple of "buy V1agra" mailing lists that you could add his email to...

    Um, that's very strange and unprofessional behavior.

    Sweetie, don't get down. Think about all the time, and energy he spent to write such awful things to you --- this says much about how he chooses to live his life.

    Remember you are the key to your own happiness. *hugs* Move on, and enjoy the rest of your day, live in the present :)

    I think keeping an opt out list is one of the toughest things any company has to do and you're just one person so don't let it get to you!

    ya, stuff like that gets me down, too.  i think u should just automate the newsletter so you are taken out of the process..

    I'm blunt, so I'll just outright say that in my opinion this guy behaved like an asshole. What he wrote was clearly overkill, out of all proportion to what actually happened. I think it's very sad there are people in the world who carry a load of anger within them just waiting to attach itself to the most minor event. He took it to a new level with his caps & ridiculous threat to report the error as spamming. Ugh. I have zero patience with people who behave in that disrespectful fashion.

    words are really powerful it does hurt you but it can also lift you up so I just want to help when I say that you are a very talented person with great imagination so there is really no reason to feel down just smile and create another masterpiece.

    thanks for the cheering up talk...as much as one can be iron-cladded from criticism... words can have so much power....to uplift, or devastate one's inner self. anyway, i manually deleted his email again from the list. poof!

    That's horrible that he responded that way, it's not that hard to delete or block an e-mail (we all do it for e-mails that we don't want to receive)...that's no way to treat someone especially since there was no harm intended.  Don't let him get to you, there are just some people out there who like to ruin peoples' days.  feel better!  =]

    It was an honest mistake on your part and his response seems a bit over the top and uncalled for.  He didn't have to react the way he did.  Don't let it get you down...cheer up! =)
