8張圖片 / 400次瀏覽 / 1條評論Tyler Dakin & The Long Naked Bottles is a band I've had the pleasure of playing in since around March 2008. I've been friends with Tyler for a few years and had subbed in from time to time as a bass player for his roots reggae outfit The Anglers.
Tyler is a great song writer in that his lyrics are personal and passionate. He has an easy and natural voice which compliments the moods of his ballads and his guitar playing. Plus he's just a super relaxed guy.
One of the other reasons I love playing with this group is Russ Picard who is one of the few drummers I've met who likes to play with just brushes on snare. It's amazing to play in a band with that much space and it cracks me up when i look over at those two, heads down, eyes closed, lost in the moment.....
When i first was asked if I wanted to come play in a country band I was dismissive after playing more recently in funk, soul and acid jazz groups but after getting accustomed to the wide open spaces of slow "murder" ballads and the rolling, almost blues roots feel I found that this style allowed me to stretch myself musically in ways that jazz couldn't.
I'm diggin it.
