Jeez what isn't? 2010 has been an interesting year so far. I have a new position at the company which owns SFweekly, LAweekly, the Village Voice, and 11 other newspapers across the country. As usual I was hired to do Search Engine Optimization which quickly expanded into a pivotal role helping the company plan it's online expansion and add several new cities. I enjoy my job tremendously and have almost weekly meetings with the CEO, President, and the rest of the executive team of this $200,000,000 company. Talk about great experience. :) Some exciting things are on the horizon and I'll update this blog once they are solidified and announced publicly.

Besides that I've been running around 6 days a week which totals between 50 and 60 miles a week. I just ran my first race of the season last Sunday and finished 28th out of 2300 runners. It wasn't a great result for me as far as the time, but I had a cold so I'll take it ;) I have several more races coming up in the following months so I'm confident I'll improve. I posted some new photos from the past year. Crazy to be 38 and still out every weekend. I need a girlfriend haha.

Recently I've finally begun to let go of some things that have been clinging to my heart and mind. It's a difficult process, but one that I must do in order to become whole again. We can't exist with only half of our spirit in the world and the other half buried deep inside. It brings to mind one of my favorite quotes from my favorite book,

"I'll miss the sea, but a person needs new experiences. They jar something deep inside, allowing us to grow. Without change something sleeps inside us, and seldom awakens. The sleeper must awaken. " Duke Leto Atreides to his son Paul, Dune

i think i'm at a similar juncture.  it's hard to let go of the past and change with the times and discover a different side to things (and yourself), but it's a necessity to improve and move on with life.  just seems like there is so much more dragging from the past and so much less brightness in the future as we get older haha.  but it's out there. and we just hafta get our butts moving and roll with the punches and find the good that's out there.. and remember it's about the journey and staying true to ourselves regardless
