    So for the month of July I have been in Beijing -- I'm a teacher's assistant for the University of Washington and Beijing Film Academy summer program.  Truth be told I still have a lot to learn about Chinese cinema -- and I'm so thankful that I got the chance to explore it even more... 

    When I saw Oxhide II my mind exploded.  I'm still really trying to process it all.  It's a feature film.  There's nine shots.  Same frame size.  Real time.

    That night I wanted to get a hair cut.  I happened upon a place near Bei Wai.  After I was invited to sit down -- suddenly -- no one was there.  Not for a momemt.  At least 5 minutes actually.  Twilight zone indeed!

    Probably the best window dressing I have ever seen... of course I don't get out much...



    My little green camera doesn't lie...



    The movers were surprised I wanted to take a photo... how could I not?  I always ask first.



    Remind me to retell the account of the white rabbit, self-sacrifice, and the path to enlightenment...



    Yes, it was in my hands...



    A film awaits...three years later and we are still in post-production.  No real reason it should take that long.  But it has.

    So now what?  Let me see... I'll sit here, grab something to eat, and decide... finish the film or?

    How are you? My name is Sigurdur Asgeirsson. I'm a Bahá'í, living in Iceland. I'm a video producer and have seen the videos you made for Mona Foundations. I was very impressed. What a wonderful service! I would like to know if you are going to visit more sites and film them. I have been thinking about if I could help in any way. I hope to travel next year and perhaps I could visit some of sites you didn't visit. I'm specially interested in the Digital Study Hall in Lucknow. My company, Learing Mode Productions, helped Mona Foundation to place your videos on You Tube. They have all been uploaded there under the Mona Foundation site. I'm wondering what else we could do. Do you have footage of any of the other sites? Are you planning to visit more sites to shoot more footage? Would you be interested in colaborating with me in any way?     I don't think I've written in it for two years! But thanks anyway. I don't do anything interesting though. Instead of working....I've been busy setting up a 5K and 10K race for a local historical site I work with. Tell Mark for me that even though I don't actually run, I do run runs, lol. Actually, and honestly, I have every intention of doing what Mark had suggested maybe two years ago: do a couch to 5K program. Yep. I mean it this time.

    How's school working out? How's everything with you two? Has the documentary been completed? Revised because of what happened? That's worthy of a blog Ruhi.

    I've been meaning to get onto AnD for sometime now since the earthquake struck Haiti. When the quake struck, I immediately thought of you and Mark. I know there's not a lot of ways to find out if the people you visited are alright, but I just wanted to let you know that I'm thinking of you, Mark, and I wish the best for the friends you made in Haiti.

    I hope you have gotten in contact with your friends in Haiti and found them safe. It is a terrible disaster. It is hard to sit here and do nothing when something like this happens. I have a strong back. But I realize that many people feel like that and all we would do is add to the drain on resources. I guess money is what is needed and let it up to the professionals and the NGOs who know what they are doing. What a nightmare.

    Have a great 2010 Ruhi. I repeat myself here but I am so happy for you and Mark and see only good things in your future. Marriage ain`t always easy but it is a lot easier to have a sensitive and loving partner and you both lucked out there. I`m getting all weepy. Have a good ganbei for me on New Year`s Eve and if you don`t drink I`ll just have to have 3 for all of us.
