I swallowed a fly once when I was studying at University in Australia over 10 years ago.  It was so dreadful that I tried to cough it out but unfortunately it had gone down the tube already and I could feel the horrifying tickle....  Instead of comforting me, all the folks were laughing at me and they were singing this children chant to me:
