The party was mostly a success. First guy turned up at around 3:20. Next person at around 3:45. Since when we normally have parties, people turn up before the start time, my mum was beginning to wonder if anyone was gonna turn up. But, since I experienced the whole guests turning up whenever they feel like it at my friend's birthday party a few weeks ago, I wasn't too worried. What I was more worried about was someone turning up fairly early who didn't know anyone else.

Anyways, no one was willing to sing SingStar, but eventually someone asked if we could play Buzz, so it was basically Buzz all night. My brother and sister brought down the Foosball table, so some of the guys played that. Since people were trickling in, mum went into panic mode and thought no one was going to turn up, so she called those who lived nearby and got them to come to help finish the food.

I managed to have a decent number of people turn up, so it wasn't too bad. And people seemed to enjoy playing Buzz, so they weren't too bored.

The original intention was to finish at 10pm, but then those who were left decided to go bowling, and I felt rude leaving them to go bowling themselves, so I ended up going with them. My sister's friends came out to join her, so she felt the need to hang out with them after our game. The rest of my friends decided to head back to one of the guys' place (same guy who had the birthday party) for some Guitar Hero and since my sister was my ride, I decided to join them until my sister was ready to go home. In the end, my sister and her friends decided to join us for Guitar Hero, so it worked out even better.

Except that we didn't get home til 1:30am, and I still had church to go to this morning. So I was looking pretty crap for church today! Haha, it was funny. The guy whose place we went to for Guitar Hero asked if we got all dressed up for church. I said no, we just wear what we want and he started asking about the whole "Sunday best" thing. As far as I know, that doesn't really exist very much anymore. It may still exist in some places, but it's never been the case for me. I normally dress pretty casually for church, sometimes dressing up in the summer when I feel good in the morning.

Actually, just prior to asking that, we were talking about nightclubs in Hong Kong. They were talking about making me go to Rain, an Asian nightclub here. I never knew we had such things, but apparently we do, and my sister goes all the time! I said something about getting to go whenever I want in Hong Kong, but he said that they're much stricter in Hong Kong, and you have to be dressed really nicely in order to get in. Do you really? Not that it'd make a difference, since girls dress up whenever they go to such places anyway, but guys (especially Kiwi guys) don't generally dress up for anything less than special events.

Anyways, it was a fun night other than the fact that some people who rsvp'd didn't actually turn up, especially since one of them I haven't seen since high school and really wanted to see. But it was still pretty successful.

If I don't come in here before I leave Wellington then I probably won't be on here for a while. I may be able to use the internet at my friend's place in Australia, but I figure I won't have internet access for a while when I first arrive in Hong Kong. I'll have to find out where the closest wireless cafe is.

See you all in a few weeks!

generally they're more relaxed here as far as dress code goes (worst you get is 'no shorts and flip-flops' at some places...)

but some of the fancy pants places have 'members only'....  which is not about how you're dressed, but more about who you know.
