Roni Size, music videos and programming sessions

Hello all

we have not updated this blog for a while, so here it is a summary of what we have been doing.

Our friends at Magnetic Soul have been so good to invite us to perform at the upcoming Electronic Music Festival. This event will be head-lined by RONI SIZE, directly from UK, with MC Dynamite as a supporting act.
We are honored to open for such a big artist that has been a real influence on our music and can't really wait to share the stage with him.

For the event we will have to prepare an entire new set. All songs will have to be Drum n Bass / uptempo tunes (my favourite! ah!).
You might have noticed that our latest trend was to compose more with a bit of a New Rave / Techno twist.... well, this gig will be of a completely different taste!
I and Griff have been spending weeks in programming new tunes and remixing old tunes with a new flavour.... we are almost there.... will probably post snippets of them on our facebook blog later on....

Also, eventually we have finalized the production of our first proper Music Video, featuring director Marie Chao from LA. Marie is also on AnD.... check her out here.

The video will be shot in Hong Kong in mid October and hopefully will be unveiled during our Roni Size gig in November.

In the meanwhile, while we were waiting for Marie to come and meet us, we have shot two live music videos, produced by Stage Tube. They did not come half bad, especially Bleed!, which is a new song, not included in our first EP.

We are going to play a concert on March 7th, together with Kongkrete Bass DJs, Drip Manila all the way from the Philippines and Synthetic Insemination.
During the concert we will release our first EP and artworks by our band's artist, FISH, will be shown.

back to Italy and gig in December

hello,

i am off to Italy for a couple of weeks.
Violent Jokes has been out of the stages for a while... we have all been quite busy with our day jobs... we are planning a 2009 full of music, though, and we will eventually release our first EP, which is presently almost completed...
For all interested, our last gig of the year will be on December 27th at the Backstage.
I and Simon will be coming back from Europe right on that day, landing in the afternoon.
We hope planes won't let us down.
In each and every meaning....

An ethereal, feminine voice crawls its way up from the darkest range of sonic spectrums, speaking through the voluptuous lips of a Shadow. Two tall bodyguards protect the message and deliver the frame: an unusual combination of Drum&Bass loops with live instruments, electric buzzes and intriguing lyrics, glitch and distorted guitars.
After not even an year of Hong Kong activity, Violent Jokes have played in all major events in town, have collaborated with local bands to a couple of compilations recently released and were invited to perform at Spring Scream 08 in Taiwan, together with famous DJs and musicians from all over Asia.
More live music and their first album are already scheduled for the latter part of a really productive 2008.
