Surprise!

Gosh, everyone keeps springing surprise parties on me!

On Christmas Eve, our Pan-Library Admin team were having an end-of-year celebration. Halfway through the drinks, my boss surprises me with a gift and flowers (okay, not completely, since I saw her walk in with them, and pretty much figured who they were for, but I couldn't be 100% sure who they were for so I still felt surprise when I received them) and it turned into my surprise farewell party. Props to the Pan-Library Admin group who managed to keep it a secret from me.

Anyways, this morning, I got sprung with another celebration. This time, it wasn't meant to be a surprise, but I didn't know about it and the last two days, people have been mentioning how other people can't turn up to my party since they're not here this week, and I've been all confused. I thought that maybe since I've been here for so long that people were just assuming I would have one. I honestly thought that there was no party since I'd already had it, and even if they did, it wouldn't be a surprise. But, as it turned out, since I've never been on the email distribution list for Pan-Library Admin, and the email was sent to them (among others), I never received the invitation to my own morning tea.

It wasn't til this morning when I was asked to pick up savouries and sausage rolls that I got suspicious (since we only order those for special occasions) and I was looking at my old boss suspiciously and she was looking back at me and so I was like, "why are you looking at me like that?" and she answered, "because Lee said that she can't make you get the food for your own morning tea, but I said, well, I can," and I was like, "so there is a party for me!" We had a good laugh at how I never got invited to my own morning tea and how funny it would have been if I'd made arrangements to go out for morning tea and missed the big party.

I also had a good laugh with a few others, and one of them, who I'd been talking to yesterday about how people keep mentioning a party that didn't exist was laughing about how she didn't know whether or not it was supposed to be a surprise, so when I was talking to her about it, she was like "yeah...." LOL. I'd actually been talking to another person earlier this morning about how everyone was talking about a party, and she thought the same thing too.

Haha, so I'm looking like a total doofus cos I don't know about my own party.

I almost ran out at the last minute. I decided I didn't want a big send off, and tried to sneak out when my boss started her speech, and last time I'd looked, there was no one behind me, so I turned and right in front of me was my old boss and she cracked up laughing cos she could tell I was trying to bunk. So I hid behind someone else, who then decided it was time to demand that I stand up the front. Unfortunately, since everyone (except my boss) was standing where they could all see me, I wasn't exactly hiding, and they all made me stand up front. *cringe* I refused to make a speech. I never know what to say, so after everyone made their little speeches (I was expecting everyone to make jokes at my expense, but everyone was really good), I said no to making my own. And obviously, I went very pink as I shook my head, cos everyone laughed. So everyone started eating and I managed to get a few photos in.

Now, even as I write this, I'm just running around taking photos with as many people as possible. Unfortunately, a lot of people aren't here, which sucks.

Anyways, should get back to "work". Hehe, haven't done anything at all today. The new girl is all clued up and is familiar with the job now, so she's able to do everything, so I don't even need to watch her. Ah, the beauty of new staff who already know how to do everything.
