    With the end of New York Fashion Week, we turn our attentions back to the street. This is where style exists, and trends are real before they get run down on the runways and slapped with a five-hundred dollar price tag! Three of our favourites sites are Lookbook, StreetPeeper and The Sartorialist.

    And style is also created out in the real world.  All the designers can do is propose.  It is the real world wearers that take these proposals and translate them into personal style, often worlds away from what the designers, magazine eds and others have suggested.  The older I get (and I'm now 50), the more I see that it has less and less to do with fashion, and more to do with style.  Hopefully, by the time I'm 70, I'll have a truly unique personal style, like a Georgia O'Keefe.  Fashion is for the young.  For the rest of us (anyone over 35, really), its all about style.  I no longer care about being "in fashion", I only care about whether or not my own personal style is happening.  Only the perspective from a middle-aged woman who, most certainly, is no longer on the cutting edge of fashion, but who thinks she definitely is developing her own personal style to the max!
