• Hello.. I'm back from .. from last week.

  My brother and sister came over just a few days ago (now they're back where they came from ^^) and my grandma is currently in our village in Fujian till tomorrow.
  
  Talking about the village, Tom from work lent me this 60's British tv series called "The Prisoner". It's quite interesting in several ways.. First of all, the main character (Patrick McGoohan) is identified as Number 6. He used to work in the British secret service and knows a lot of important things, so when he resigned suddenly, he got kidnapped and was sent to The Village. The Village is a holiday-like place where the town runs its own Hospital, Town Hall, etc. It also runs its own newspaper The Tally Ho, and has local taxis that reach places locally.. (meaning, you can't go back home through the taxi). Number 6 keeps trying different ways to escape back to London, but so far he's failed over and over. Number 2 runs the village, and every now and then would ask the same question to Number 6, "Why did you resign?" Number 2 has a lot of surveillance cameras.. (and a lot of things that would seem so futuristic in the 60s.. not so much today) and wherever Number 6, or anyone, goes.. they will know. It's a bit like Big Brother. That's why the greetings to say goodbye in the Village is "Be Seeing You".
  
  Some episodes delve into the meaning of democracy (The Village hold an annual election.. ironically to elect Number 2..), the unconscious, the unsolvable human question of "Why?", dreams, and human trust. And others.. as I will see, because I've only seen about a third of the whole collection. So, if you're interested, check it out - The Prisoner.
  
  Yesterday I walked through Victoria Park towards Causeway Bay to get tickets for today's "Body of Lies". I regretted not having my camera around because the sky was blue, the sun was setting, and the light was marvellous. Everywhere you walked you'd see a ray of light penetrating the tree leaves and falling on the grass. It's not a scene you'd see often in Hong Kong. As I walked out of the park, I saw a guy kneeling on the floor, to take a picture of a little figurine in front of the grass, under the amber sunlight. The figurine looked like he's in a jungle.. under the sunlight. I'm sure his photo would look beautiful!
  
  Anyway, "Body of Lies" is good :) Ridley Scott is good. The movie is complex in some ways.. and did I say Leonardo is good, too? In the span of 2 hours, we went from Iraq to Amman (Jordan), Washington D.C., Turkey, Syria, Dubai (UAE), Manchester (England), Amsterdam (Netherlands), Munich (Germany.. I don't even remember this) and maybe other places... Phew.. I like Mark Strong (the Andy Garcia lookalike, see left), he's so handsome in his suit.. walking into the room in the foggy dusty mess and all.. and switching off the video recorder.... *drool*..
  
  Ahem, anyhow, the plot was kinda confusing at times.. what with the politics and the different places, people, connections.. and Arab names (Emily and I ended up naming the terrorist guy Salami.... XD hahahhahaha... I know it was Sadikit, but for conversational purposes...)
  
  But hey, in the end, I understood the plot, so why wouldn't you? I think it's worth watching :)
  
  Back to work again tomorrow..
