  I agree.  We get no respect for our art.  I once considered beating a guy up with a monopod because he made a ruckus in the middle of us shooting a scene.  I didn't because he was much bigger than me and I would have needed more than a monopod.
  
  I think best thing is to carry a sword when out taking photographs.  Then wave it threateningly every time someone walks into one of your shots.  Eventually people will learn to have more respect for your photography.  ; )
