Dorr McElrea Racing driver, Yuey Tan heads into the final round of the 2013 season, a single point off second place in the category B championship.

After Swiss driver, Egidio Perfetti clinched the title at the Singapore GP last month, the rest of the field are still battling for the remaining positions, with Tan just one point adrift of second place rival, Li Chao. 

2013 started as a positive year for Tan, firmly second in the championship till round 5 where he retired on the final corner of the Zhuhai GP, making contact with Li Chao several corners from the end of the race. This retirement closed the gap between the two drivers, in round 6 down to a single point. Round 6 saw the two drivers make contact once again, Li Chao coming out better of the two as he drove to his second successive podium finish of the season. Since then, Tan has been trailing Li Chao in the championship points table, though has managed to close the gap to Li to a single point.

"It's been a fantastic season with Egidio, Li Chao and Francis. Luck hasn't gone Francis' way and its made it a two way battle for second and third place. Let's hope for a strong finish to my best season yet. Li Chao is a good friend off the circuit and Im sure we will have a good race."

Over the last three races, the form book has been with the Singaporean, outperforming the Chinese driver and closing a 7- point gap down to a single point. 

"There's been a lot of hard work and some fantastic moments on the racing circuit this season. We've had some good moments in the season with Zhuhai and Ordos going his way, and Korea and Singapore favouring me. So it's anyones game! Let's hope Shanghai goes my way next weekend and we clinch 2nd place at the end of Sunday."

Nine-time FIA World Rally Champion, Sébastien Loeb will be making his Porsche Carrera Cup Asia debut, at the Macau invitational round in November.

The Porsche Carrera Cup Asia will be returning to the exciting Guia Circuit for the 60th anniversary of the Macau GP in what promises to be a magnificent show!

Shanghai, China. Porsche China, organisers of the region’s premier sportscar championship the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia, today announced nine-time FIA World Rally Champion Sébastien Loeb will make his debut with the series at the end-of-season invitational at the Macau Grand Prix.

The Frenchman, who is the most successful driver ever in World Rally Championship history, will take to the fabled Macau Guia street circuit in November amongst an international field of some of the best sportscar drivers from across the region and beyond, all racing the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup.

The announcement of Loeb’s participation adds to the fevered anticipation building ahead of the Macau race, which sees the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia return to the Guia Circuit as part of the celebration of the 60th running of the Grand Prix.  In the year when Porsche is marking 50 years of the iconic 911, the Asian edition of its hugely successful Carrera Cup is set to close the season in spectacular fashion.

For the first time in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia’s ten-season history, drivers from its sister series in Japan will join the field.  Four Porsche Carrera Cup Japan drivers will line up on the Guia Circuit grid as part of a historic and unique field of exciting sportscar stars.  Ryo Ogawa of Bright Motorsport, Garmin Porsche driver Hideto Yasuoka, Hiroaki Nagai of Ninne Racing, and Tsubasa Kondo of Improve Racing are amongst the stellar cast who will tackle Macau’s tight turns and lightning straits.

Loeb may be new to Macau’s unforgiving 6.2km Guia street track, but he does have experience of the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup both as a driver and a team boss in the Porsche Carrera Cup France, and on a city circuit.  In 2012, he won the two Porsche Carrera Cup France rounds held around the streets of Pau.

Earlier this year, Loeb made his debut at the pinnacle of Porsche one-make racing – the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, contesting both the Spanish and Monaco rounds.

With nine FIA World Rally Championship titles to his name, all won consecutively between 2004 and 2012, Loeb is also a three-time winner at the Race of Champions and finished second in the 2006 Le Mans 24 Hours.  He switched to circuit racing for his full-time campaign this year, and is contesting the FIA GT Series.

Originally a gymnast, Loeb switched to rallying in 1995, and won the Junior Rally Championship in 2001.  In 2007 and 2009, he was named French Sportsman of the Year, and in 2009 was honoured by his country with the Legion of Honour.

Having conquered the world of international rallying, Loeb has turned his remarkable talent to circuit racing.  When he arrives in Asia, he will be met by a Porsche Carrera Cup Asia brimming with both experience professionals and young talent, several of whom have previous experience at Macau.  All eyes will be on the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia this November to see whether the world’s most successful rally driver can beat his formidable rivals and conquer the Guia Circuit to take a coveted Macau victory.

The Dorr McElrea Racing Team finished a strong race weekend in the Carrera Cup Asia.

After a race 1 first corner blunder  saw Tan limp home to a lucky 3rd place in category, he started race 2 in 2nd place due to new regulations in the PCCA 2013. This season, the PCCA take the two quickest laps from qualifying of a driver, and that is the grid position for race 1 and race 2.

"Today, the racing went a lot better than yesterday," said Tan after the race on Sunday. Yesterday, we got hit in the first corner once more and it was tough to get it to the line though today was a totally different story. Things went well up until the last minute with Wayne but luckily we all survived! 

"We kept the car going well for basically the full length of the race, and we know where we can improve! Had some great racing with Alif and Natasha Seatter which did fantastically on her first weekend in the PCCA. A positive weekend for us and a good weekend for the sport"

Singapore's Yuey Tan drove a consistent weekend, cementing his position in the top 3 in category, throughout every session at the Shanghai GP.

"This time last year, we were not in a good position so right now, its been the plan to get it to the chequered flag and get some good points on the board. It was a solid race weekend in every session and we have a good foundation to build on!"

Tan current sits 2nd in the PCCA Class B standings 14 points adrift for category leader, Italian Egidio Perfetti of Team Mentos Racing, and 4 points ahead of Malaysian, Alif Hamdan.
