Friendster is my first ever, the oldest. most of them are malaysian/asian friends from high school to college. it keeps me connected to them. so still use it often.

like the old friendster better cause of the loading speed, but the new friendster navigation is cleaner, and i like the update tracking system used. i don't know if anyone remember, but i like another friendster layout tht was use in between the old and the current layout. i don't know why it has been deleted.

point: navigation should be easy to access and link to proper page/content. loading time should be cut off as short as possible.

Facebook got to me when i'm in my grad school in Savannah GA, USA. so, mostly friends from tht school.

less activitiy in facebook after i graduated. don't feel as much connected to any activities. there was a lot of fun when i was still in Savannah cause of the school events and stuff around. now i'm out. i can't go. so...less connected. but still am using it for some NY friends in facebook.

point: i don't like the fact tht i can't post video/music up with HTML. only available through share tht doesn't really work well. the region function of who you are connected with is not a great feature. i do understand they did tht to protect user's privacy. but it doesn't really connect you to people outside certain range. the function just makes me feel i'm contain. so where is the networking function??? i felt facebook is more of a 'school' network site than a broader social network site.

MySpace is the latest hit when i move to New York. i was on myspace while i was in Savannah, but wasn't as active as i'm now.

i got latest info out of it. mostly in US. it really get me connected to things happening around like concert (by local band or sign band), secret show, and nightlife. i guess Tom is really good in getting people (infamous and famous) to sign up and use it for promoting purpose. it work. thus, for a while a lot of spams issue happened but now it calms down. user just have to be cautious in signing in. always check the main URL.

i like how i get to view profile of user in myspace with photos, music and the Top Friends function. not only can i see what type of friends the user has, i can also click on it to find out further from one user to another. myspace makes people well connected, yet still have the user privacy function set up. well done.

the many function of HTML in either my profile or comment is great. it got better when Tom added the disable function where user can disable HTML if he/she doesn't like it. user can even choose to approve or deny comments before someone post it up. especially in bands site where most of them are bands/advertiser promoting stuff around comment box. careful band user will know how to filter it. some really doesn't and it just make the profile look crappy.

bulletin board really keep user posted bout things user connected with, and blog helps as well.

email subscrīption/alert about latest stuff posted from user network is useful as well.

point: promotion purpose can be 'over use' by user, and created lots of spam. too much advertising lately as well. make the home page look too 'clutter'. blog doesn't seem to be what it is suppose to be. it has turn into a newspaper posting page instead.

AliveNotDead is still new to me. but it has made a HUGE GIGANTIC leap from what it was before. some old function seems to work better though. for example archive function on the calender. then again, maybe this site has a different function then the one before.

i like this new site mainly because i get to blog. i have been looking for a place to blog, and finally i found it. though Blogger is huge but i hate the navigation system, and the confusing posting function/button. here it's easy but i do hope more function can be added in the future. being able to costumize our own page would be a great feature (also another feature i like bout MySpace. i can't do much with Friendster, and Facebook has no customizing function at all).

the main function of this site which i believe is to get to know more about indie artist, and celebrity's tht willing to share their thoughts/POV, is working out brilliantly. i love it. again, the geographic of this site being set up, i get to know more bout Asian entertainment news. if not, i did be so stuck with only Western entertainment. i really do felt i have learn more bout Hong Kong entertainment now.

besides that, with all these different users across the world to exchange thoughts/laughter/blogs is great. tht's what missing in myspace. people don't blog and share as much. mainly for popping by saying hi and let's hang out later type of sharing. the difference, myspace to get connected with people/friends in your area, alivenotdead get to know more on the other side of artist's life. i don't think myspace artist share as much with fans at all.

forum is great, especially the new added feature tht artist's page is link to forum about he/she.

point: this site is new and it will improve by time. the subscrīption function is still a little bit confusing, and so does the alerts. tabs naming can be review deeper to make it clearer for user to know which one to click for which function, and also which category should fall on which tab as well.
