soooo. i think i owe a lot of 'happenings' YET AGAIN~!
man....i can't keep up with blogging! hahah!!
so, skip CNY dinner at my apt, BUT CNY parade with some of the AnD-ers.
then...my bo-oh-ston trip! :)

AnD Chinese New Year Parade Meet Up
:: officially only christina and helen showed up. :) but there are six people in total tht hang out! we ate at the restaurant and it was a beautiful day! i made recovery from my stomach flu in time to hang out! woohoo!!! it was a VERY beautiful day too!!!! thus, the parade had gotten a lot shorter from what me and christina remember...it was def. much more groups last year. here are some snaps from christina!!!

BOSTON
:: this trip turned out BOSTON-TASTIC! with my very limited spending budget, boston is my closest vacation (or the only vacation), an escape from the city trip. going down to celebrate belated birthday with my friend pon. anne join us for the trip. just for the weekends. friday - sunday. so, here's the itenarary.
day 1 - 7pm bus down, 11.30pm arrive.
day 2 - lunch. ICA - shepard's fairey. balloon project. dinner. the virigins concert.
day 3 - dim sum. 2pm bus back.
i guess tht's A LOT? hahaha!
day 2
[noon]
well first, whoever is going to boston, better make a trip down ICA (institute of contemporary art). my personal take on my first time viewing shepard's work in a gallery, it's very graphic. doesn't really send any message to me. just pure graphic and art/crafts. personal favorite is his recent lotus motifs pattern. while knowing nothing about mr obey, i kinda sorta guess the used of 'lotus' somehow related to someone he is close with is asian. wahlah! after reading a book, found a photo of him with his family–asian wife.
anyway, the most interesting thing about ICA is actually the building itself. the building started off impressing me with the LARGEST elevator i've ridden in my life. then, there is a room tht escalate down to a view of few mac machines (for access to ICA info) looking down to a slanted glass window view directly down to the open water (the institute situated next to the river). obviously i'm not good in explaining architectural features, you gotta see it yourself. taking photo can't even justify the feeling of viewing it yourself. i actually lean myself on the glass window just to see how it feels like 'floating' in mid air, probably flying like superman. hahaha!!!! it was nice.
the installation tht capture me the most (half of it is shepard's works, the other half of the institute is for local/international artists) is by Gerard Bryne

i agree. again, i can't explain my experience with his work, but it does set me listening for no purpose while viewing the turning black and white grainy filim. i felt open, imaginative, free. hahah! i probably took the purpose of the installation the wrong way but heck, art for art sake. hahaha!
[evening]
during the whole journey (above) i have my balloon with me. blue, green, purple, yellow. it's for my ballon project. thanks much to pon for getting me these balloons. so now, i need to find a place to let them go. again, pon gave a great idea, the dome of the MIT building. *psych*
both of my friend, anne and pon are super talented species MIT alumns. so with their help, we actually broke into the rooftop for my balloon project!!!! i love them. walking down hallway casually (like my balloons are invisible), scouting out if there is any athoratative personnel, passing hallways, climbing up stairs, eventually using a metrocard and unlock the door.
then, i let go. beautiful windy day for the project. the whole experience since i got my balloons until i let them go on top of the roof was amazing. unforgetable.

dinner then off to the virgins concert. which by the way, everyone, do check out the virgins music [next blog]. :)
these indie rockers are better LIVE!!!! what i love most, it was a small location!!!! they are sweet guys too. chatted a little with them and checking them out again back in NY the following week! hahahah!!!
[next day]
dim sum at hei la moon actually taste better then some of the regular NY spots i eat at!!! i should scout more!
