During my tea ceremony I was given lots of gold necklaces and bracelets...none that I would ever wear again. Out of all the jewellery I did cherish one, it was the gift from my father a pair of gold bangles symbolizing the dragon and pheonix. My father hasn't given me a gift since I was 14, I still remember that day he brought me to buy my first denim jacket. When I served him tea that day I had to hold back my tears because I was so happy and touched.
On the night of the banquet I had to wear all of the gold jewellery that relatives gave me...I felt like Mr T...As we were greeting the guests I noticed one of my bangles were unhooked. I took a closer look at the bangle and it was totally warped because while guests were shaking my hand they were also grabbing my wrists and not knowingly denting my bangle. 24kt gold is very soft and easy to bend so I ended up taking the one on my right hand off and giving it to Mr LC to put in his pocket.
The night went on and after it was all over, I took off all my jewellery and remembered that the matching bangle was inside Mr LC's jacket pocket. I went to look for him but he was busy tallying up the bills to pay the restaurant, so I didn't bother him.
When we got home I asked him to give me the bangle back so I could give all the jewellery to my mom to put in her safety deposit box ( I didn't have one yet) He looked through his pockets and the bangle wasn't there!
I was so upset I asked him if he remembered putting it anywhere else and he says he might have put it inside someones makeup bag inside my dressing room at the restaurant...So I called my bridesmaids and they said the only person that had a makeup bag was Civ ...who left the next morning back to San Fran!!! I text her and she said there was no Bangle!
How could I have been so careless??? I mean I shouldn't have trusted Mr LC that night because he was drinking...and therefore irresponsible!
I told my mom and she was upset but she said that we must not let my dad or grandma know about this! She would put the jewellery in the safety deposit box and never tell my dad...geeeez I felt aweful!! I was a horrible daughter!!
3 days had passed and still no bangle came up...then Mr LC called me and said he knew where it was!! Turns out that night he was chatting with our friend who did my flowers and he showed her the bangle and how dented it was...Her brother has a jewellery store and she said she could bring the bangle to him to fix.
It wasn't until our friend had called to tell him the bangle is ready, that Mr LC remembered what had happened that night!
I was too happy to get angry with him...I was just glad the bangle had turned up...
How the Heck could someone forget they did that? I guess he was intoxicated...but then he made up the story of him putting the bangle in someones makeup bag as well???!! I couldn't believe it...
