  CALL FOR APPLICATIONS   Winter 2013 Feature Film Production Grants   Application deadline: January 15, 2013   San Francisco, CA - November 1, 2012 - In its continuing effort to promote original storytelling by individuals from around the world, the Global Film Initiative is pleased to announce a Call for Applications for the Winter 2013 cycle of its narrative feature film production grants program.   Applications are accepted for feature-length, narrative film projects in all stages of production by directors from eligible nations of Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Central & Eastern Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Oceania. Applications may be submitted from November 15, 2012 through January 15, 2013, and granting decisions are announced in April 2013.*    APPLICATION DEADLINE: January 15, 2013   *For Applications, Eligibility Requirements and Granting Guidelines, please visit: www.globalfilm.org/granting.htm   *****  About the Granting Program The Global Film Initiative's Granting Program awards fifteen to twenty grants per year, of up to $10,000 each, to filmmakers whose work exhibits artistic excellence, authentic self-representation and accomplished storytelling. Funds received from grants are used to support completion of film production and to subsidize post-production costs such as laboratory and sound mixing fees, and access to advanced editing systems.   Since the Initiative's founding in 2002, the Granting Program has awarded 132 grants to filmmakers worldwide. Grant recipients include: BAD HAIR (PELO MALO), dir. Mariana Rondón, Venezuela International Producers Meeting selection of the 2012 Cartagena International Film Festival; 2011 Ibermedia Fund. GFI grant awarded in 2012. BLESSED BENEFIT (INSHALLA I'STAFADET), dir. Mahmoud al Massad, Jordan L'Atelier selection of the 2012 Cannes Cinéfondation; Arte Award at the 2011 Dubai FIlm Connection; 2011 Rawi Middle East Screenwriters Lab selection; 2011 Abu Dhabi Film Commission Shasha Grant. GFI honorable mention awarded in 2012. MISS LOVELY, dir. Ashim Ahluwalia, India Official Selection of the 2012 Mumbai Film Festival, 2012 Dharamshala Film Festival, 2012 Melbourne International Film Festival, 2012 South Asian International Film Festival, 2012 Toronto International Film Festival and 2012 Cannes Film Festival (Un Certain Regard, world premiere). • Filmmaking Weekend Credit Roll

  And that's a wrap!  15 out of 17 teams crossed the finish line, with our final qualifying team handing over media in the last 30 seconds!  (All 17 films will be screened at the Grand this weekend, see previous blog post for details.)  
  
  Thanks to all who participated and helped out, including all our teams (you did it guys!), our uber-organized volunteers Gloria & Christine, our amazing MCs Lee & Amy-Lou (you need to take that show on the road), our super-pro photog/videographer EC, our expert workshop instructors Seth & again EC, and of course my resourceful co-producer, Spencer.

• HAF 2013 Project Submission Deadline Extended to Nov 5

  The Hong Kong - Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF) has become Asia's premier film financing platform where filmmakers and producers connect with international financiers and other industry players every year. HAF has passed a decade of success and now enters its 11^th edition. The 11^th edition will take place during 18-20 March 2013 at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, and we cordially invite you to submit your film project to be part of this world-renowned event and win our prestigious cash and in-kind awards.

   

  In view of overwhelming response, we have extended the deadline for project to 5^th Nov 2012. Up to HK$350,000 cash awards with HAF Award, HAF Script Development Fund, and HAF/FOX Chinese Film Development Award will be given to projects with outstanding originality.
