Claude Chabrol: 4 New-Wave Classics Claude Chabrol (1930 – 2010), like Godard and Truffaut, was a critic at Cahiers du cinema during the 1950s. In 1958 he made the acclaimed Bitter Reunion, considered the precursor to the nouvelle vague. As a prolific director, Chabrol eventually made over 60 films.
