The Hong Kong
International Film Festival (HKIFF) announced today that
its call for entries for the
38th edition will start on 15 July, 2013.
Organised by the Hong Kong International Film Festival Society (HKIFFS),
the 38th HKIFF will be held from
24
March
to
7 April 2014.
HKIFF is Asia’s oldest international film festival and a major platform for world cinema.
Its programme comprises features, documentaries, shorts and animations divided into 6 sections.
From
July 15 to 31 December, 2013, the
38th HKIFF will accept
submissions for its 6 sections:
1.
Young Cinema Competition
- open to filmmakers with their first, second or third features with cash prizes awarded by jury
2.
Documentary Competition
- open to documentaries running 60 minutes or longer with cash prizes awarded by jury
3.
Short Film Competition
- Open to all films under 15 minutes duration with cash prizes awarded by jury
4.
Global Vision - new works
including special programmes and tributes
5.
Indie Power - new independent
and avant-garde works
6.
Reality Bites - new documentaries
In 2013, the
37th HKIFF achieved a record with more than
2,000 film submissions.

HKIFFS Executive Director Roger GARCIA.
