• Unbeatable’s director and stellar cast kicks off Summer International Film Festival 2013

  13 August 2013 (Hong Kong) ―The Hong Kong International Film Festival Society (HKIFFS) held the Opening Ceremony of Summer International Film Festival (SIFF) 2013 at The Grand Cinema today. The star-studded cast of Unbeatable, the opening film of the SIFF this year, attended the ceremony.

   

  The director and the leading cast including Dante LAM, Nick CHEUNG, Eddie PENG and Crystal LEE, all attended the ceremony before the premiere of the film, followed by a meet and greet session with the audience. Unbeatable has been attracting enthusiastic attention after the release of photos showing six-pack tanned physiques of Nick and Eddie in peak condition for the movie.

  Balancing action and tenderness, Unbeatable tells a story of a father-and-son relationship and the redemption of two mixed martial art fighters. Exciting fighting scenes are mixed with subtle sentiment to give depth to the story. Nick CHEUNG was awarded Best Actor and Crystal LEE secured Best Actress at the Golden Goblet Awards in the Shanghai International Film Festival in June 2013. Crystal, who is 10 years old, was also the youngest Best Actress recipient in the history of the awards.

   

  Mr. Wilfred WONG, SBS JP, Chairman of the HKIFF Society, said, “We are pleased to open SIFF 2013 with the anticipated local production Unbeatable. This year the SIFF will continue featuring celebrated work from the globe, including Woody Allen’s latest work and the fantasy love movies from Japan.”

   

  The SIFF 2013 will run with the HKIFF Cine Fan August Programme. This month’s selection includes Japanese comedies, celebrated work from Cannes and Berlin Film Festival and documentaries, and tributes to OSHIMA Nagisa and Abbas KIAROSTAMI with an additional screening of 2001: A Space Odyssey, after three screenings were completely sold out.
