In this film, the third reunion of Jackie Chan's acrobatic HK cop an Chris Tucker's overly verbose LA Cop, Zhang takes over the role of 'Soo Yung', the Chinese Consul's daughter who was kidnapped in the original 'Rush Hour'. In a recent interview with HK's Elle Magazine, Zhang said that she appreciated working with Jackie Chan as a mentor and tells how he helped her prepare for some of the emotional scenes in the movie that required her to burst into tears on camera. The article quotes her as saying "He knows the kind of difficulties you face as a newcomer very well. He'll help you. He's a true big brother."
Reportedly Zhang Jingchu's English is quite good, it will be interesting to see if she can leverage this role into an international career the same way that Zhang Ziyi did after appearing in 'Rush Hour 2'.
