From your past comment on my blog, I want to pick this topic. There is no day goes by hearing racial comment living here. I just vallet park my car and the guy said thank you in Chinese.At least he was thankful. I could be offending people at thai restaurant asking for fortune cookies.(some does have it though!)I had a friend who made fun of my accent saying “herro.” If you really want to make fun of Japanese people, we don’t have R sounds in Japanese alphabet. Japanese alphabet is consist of 46 katakana, 46 hiragana and 3000 kanji. I was at this dinner party, old man asked me and my friend if there was a massage room. We both were dressed very conservative. That’s the kind of shit we go through being asian. Ofcourse I’m a smart ass and always have something to say. This known football player kept on saying “lucy, lucy lu. I love you!” so I told him ” Thank you Micahel Jackson.” Some people are ignorant and you can’t take them seriously. Do you go through what I go through by being you? Black, hispanic, gay, whatever. I try not bias people. Because I am mazzo ball soup drinking, kool-aid mixing, line dancing, Lowriding Jap.

I don't have to face that often (having Belgian origins and living in Belgium) but I see people acting like that with my friends almost everyday. There's only one person I can think of that can't stop speaking Japanese with something approaching an English accent because I'm not having a perfect Japanese accent (but I definitely don't have an English accent either).

I generally tell my Japanese friends when they make pronunciation mistakes but that's because I know they are still learning and we always try to correct it together.

I've seen a lot of people like that guy that thanked you Chinese. Why do you have to tell that in Chinese if you're not sure the person you're talking to is Chinese.

But the worst is being kicked of a club (or any other place) just because some people in your group "don't have the look". Well, of course there's a rule they can use for that, like a member's card or something but you're the only group to which it seems to apply.

haha nice. I used to go through a lot of racist stuff...now everyone just thinks I'm white =(.

I remember when I went to school in Japan we tried to get a girl to say squirrel after we realized how she had a hard time just saying girl. Fun times, poor girl though we laughed at her so much...=\ heh.
