Can't think of a suitable title of this blog. If you don't want to read something tragic/ sad, it's O.K. to skip this blog.
Went to HK in the past weekend to visit my Uncle B. He's in the hospital. He has a brain surgery and he SAID it's only an infection in the brain. He's single, no child, around 65 years old. He used to be VP of Chase Bank of NY headquarter.
My Grandma has 3 sons and a daughter. Her third son, who lived in L.A. for more than 30 years, died in the year of 2004 due to lung cancer. He's not even 60 years old. I love this uncle
, cos he loved his family a lot, a perfect family with 2 daughters. He's an engineer. He worked for gas company, worked in Alaske, and built L.A. freeway too (he told me when he drove me around in L.A.). A perfect family, a successful career, but died within 2 weeks when he found out he has cancer
.
My Dad, he's the eldest, died in the year of 2006 (as I mentioned in my early blog). He died in his sleep when he was in a 5-star Taipei Hotel. He has a meeting there and he's the manger of the hotel. He's 67 years old when he died. Too sudden, and I still can't take it everytime I think of my Dad
.
So my grandma has lost 2 sons in 2 years. She's 87 years old now. She always said hopefully when she dies, her only son and daughter will be by her side. My Grandpa died at the age of 60+, due to cancer as well.
So on last Friday evening, I went to visit my Uncle B. He seems O.K., and he explaint the detail of the surgery to me as well. Since Amelie cannot go into the patient room, so I chatted with my Uncle for a while and went out to take care of Amelie.
As you can hardly imagine, my Dad's wife ( I talked about her in my early blog) sent his lawyer to the hospital to talk about the paper he needs me to sign. I was so angry, and said HK gov't can check our identity as son and daughter, why we need to sign anything, and I said my brother will deal with it. And then I have a fight
with my Dad's wife. I said she's the lier...........not jump into detail; of course, her lawyer saw the situation was no good, he just left and said he'd wait for my brother.
My Aunt saw us arguing
and she asked me to help her, I said "why". I told her there's 2 things I cannot forgive her : (1) she called me saying she should have all my Dad's money and necklace, ring, watch......everything after 2 hours the police found my Dad's body in the hotel, who will think of money when you just find out your hubby is dead? (2) she didn't put my brother and my name on my Dad's tomb stone, so she doesn't regard us as Cheng's family, so why do we have to help her? I said I don't want the money, she can just go and get it.
My Aunt saw that I won't help, than she cried and told me that actually Uncle B has cancer, and has spread to other organ as well. He didn't tell anyone in the family. He called his best friend to arrange a doctor in HK when he was in L.A., and he came back in early Nov. to receive treatment in HK. He's afraid Grandma will find that out, so he cut all his hair to have a bald head. One night, he can't walk, so my Grandma sent him to the hospital and have the brain surgery. My Grandma cannot hear well, so he told her he has infection in the brain only. So my Aunt asked me to help......I cried and cried.....
and I said I'll ask my brother to go back to HK to see my Uncle and to deal with my Dad's money.
Can't stop crying
everytime I think of my Uncle and everything......When I left the hospital on Sat., I can see my Uncle's loneliness in his eyes. I feel so bad. He's a very tough and serious guy. But I know in his heart, he loves me. When I was a child, he's the one to educate my brother and me, he's the one who'd kiss my face every night I went to sleep. I really want him to live longer, and I can't imagine what'll happen to my Grandma when she find out the truth or when something really bad happen to my Uncle. I just can't stop crying.......
give me some time to settle down my feeling, I promise I'll blog something happy soon. Thank you for sharing my feeling and my sadness.
