Since Amelie went to international school in Sept., I made some new friends, they are all mothers of the school's students.  They are all housewives as well.  Some husbands have been sent to work in China, some have their own business; that's why all the wives do not work.  One friend is from Malaysia, one is from Taiwan, one is from Japan, one is from Australia (but she's Chinese), and one is from Canada (she is Chinese too).

We always have a coffee in Starbucks/ other cafe before we go to pick up our children.  We chat a lot.  Some came here 2 years ago, some came here in early 2007 (same as me).  All our husbands are busy, and we think  we are hopeless to go back to our own country cos China is such a big market now.  One mom told me today that she wants to go back to Taiwan, (she's so lonely in here, no friends, no relatives) but every friend of her said "NO", I told her the same answer, cos all of us believe we should "stick" with our husbands no matter what!  Lots of man (wife in home town) work here alone, and they'd made some girl-friends in here.  Before we moved to SZ, my E.'s (my hubby) GM asked him to find an apartment not in the same neighbourhood as the other colleagues, just to avoid me to meet them when they're with their "girl-friends"..........Pity?  Well, what can we do?  That's why we followed our husbands to China.

My E said I talked too much (cos sometimes we can talk for 3 hours), but I said we are all lonely wives, cos all husbands are so busy everyday, and no time for us.  Some of them even gave up their career to follow their husbands here!  Will the husbands understand our love to the family?

omg... will you guys ever meet in HK??? sounds like what i might need when i relocate to HK next year! i'm selling my clinic (i should be still working though- looking for opportunities with doctors right now), leaving my family and friends... AIYAH!!!

it's great you guys have this type of support. husbands won't understand how much wives sacrifice. they will appreciate, they will love, they will continue to provide... but men just don't understand the extent of our sacrifices, in my opinion... i agree- husband and wife should STICK together no matter what!!!

I think these wives groups are great. Talk about everything, feel less left out, commiserate about the husbands. My mom also said something to that effect - if Mr. P were to work in China, I'd best follow him. In fact, everybody's told me that. I don't see that happening right now though - don't think he's going anywhere.

You have chosen to stick with your hubby not just to 'watch' him but to look after him and care for him. I'm sure he would appreciate your love. My hubby thinks I talk alot too when I'm around with the girlies but I like to have a good old chat hee. Wish I can join you at Starbucks and have a chitchat. Glad to hear you've made some new friends. : )
