I can't believe I'm here for 5 months already, it's like I'm living here for a year .  No offense, just because there's nothing much you can do in here, here is my daily schedule:

    Mon - Fri :

Restaurants I always go w/ Amelie for lunch / tea - McDonald's, Holiday Inn Hotel's Korean restaurant/ lobby cafe, a Taiwanese-owned chain coffe shop, HK style dessert cafe.

     Dessert shop

Places for leisure - SZ Book City, Children's world (selling clothes and toys), foot massage, manicure/ pedicure, and the playground in my neighbourhood.

    Park in the neighbourhood

There's a local supermarket nearby as well, I always go there to buy eggs and vegetables.

    Weekend:

Shopping for grocery - Walmart Supercenter; Japanese grocery shop near Shekou port where we can buy some Japanese snacks for Amelie, Japanese curry, and sauces (my E has studied in Japan, and so he loves Japanese food).

Marine World Market (near Shekou port) - lots of fancy restaurants there, like the German Beer restaurant I introduced in my blog earlier, Starbucks, Thai, Korean, Japanese food........There are lots of foreigners there as well (2 international schools + oil companies); I love this place cos I don't feel like living in China.

Mexican restaurant in Marine World Market

Sometimes we'd go to the Park, but for sure no more shopping, cos I always think HK is the best place for shopping.

    Zhong Shan Park

So that's it, quite boring.  As long as I've a good novel, TV, and laptop, I can survive at home for a few days.  But Amelie always wants to go out.  Also, I don't have any friends in here; sometimes, I bring Amelie to the park, other mothers/ grannies'd talk to me, but most of the time, I don't know what they are talking, their Mandarin is a bit different, and there're only a few Cantonese living in my neighbourhood, so most of the time, I just smile to them and say nothing.  There're only 2 persons fm. here I get in touch with - my Chinese maid (she comes every Mon, Wed, Fri) and my E's driver.  Sometimes I'd ask them why people behave that way, and they'd explain to me, but there's one thing for sure, China is so BIG, you cannot expect everyone to behave the same, or have the same thinking.

Anyway, I can have a break soon, I'm going back to Taipei  for a 10 days vacation (cos Amelie's school starts on the 23rd Aug.)  I miss the food in Taiwan, and my home as well (cos my E. is a Taiwanese).

I think you are such a good mother being able to look after Amelie yourself almost 24/7! She would really appreciate it! Is she more clingy to you than her daddy?

I've met other parents in the park and there might be a club or association that you can join to make playdates.....
