Janechu's blog, regarding her friend (the husband)  is kind of complaining to take care of his mother-in-law (http://www.alivenotdead.com/janechu/differences-profile-179902.html), this reminds me of a man I've worked together many years ago.  He's good-looking, normal family, has an apartment and a car for him, BUT, one day, when we have lunch together, he said his view of his future wife :  she no need to be very rich, BUT her family must FEED themselves, no financial problem, cos he's not willing to earn money and pay/ help for his wife's family.  Hmmmh..........I feel bad when I heard that, and so afraid his view rep. all the men's view; fortunately my E is not like that.  Hope that he won't have a daughter; otherwise, if he has finanical problem or need other help, his son-in-law won't help him at all!

Maybe he has a lot of financial burden from his family?  To be honest, i'm glad that WHH's parents can support themselves.  Since i have to support my parents and my brother, so i'm glad to not have to worry abt his family.  Reality is reality, at least he didn't mean that he would not support the parents when they're in need.

I don't get that kind of thought process at all.  if not for our parents, who brought us into this world and raised us where would we be?  I guess he must want a wife who comes from a rock then.

hmmm. what goes around comes around...

both mrAC and i try our best to honour our parents (actually, mrAC is the "only" son so he basically earns for 2 families- his parents' and ours)... it's such a small token of appreciation of how our parents worked so hard to raise us up!
    don't you think so? =)

Peachey said it well... when he gets older, maybe he'll realize.. but it is true, sometimes the in-laws do overburden the others, seen that happen too and in that situation you can't blame them for "ignoring" them... but sounds like that man is just selfish... did he ever find his "future wife"?

Yes, he was only thinking of the inconvenience and hardship to himself. Just wait until he's older and needs help himself. However, there are in-law families who do overburden others and impose themselves on others. That is what I'd like to avoid. My in-laws and mom aren't bad at all in comparison.

Mr. P makes me a better person w/ regards to our elder parents. He cares for his which makes me do a little more for mine. Not enough but something.
