it's probably a function of my composition of friends, family, coworkers, and geographic location but i can't help but notice that those against prop 4 and 8 are so much more violently angry about it than those for it. profanity and name calling galore.

no matter what side you believe in, please take the time to understand the other person's point of view before assuming they're idiots. because quite frankly, in the end, it's all just a matter of opinion. you're just as much of an "idiot" as they are.

people have different interpretations and preferences for the role of government - the size, the power, the purpose. what is logical to one person may not be logical to another. decisions primarily driven by emotions are not more "wrong" than decisions that are not. and the decision to agree with a large group of supporters that share your values on either side should not be interpreted as weakness.

i think it's great that people are voting and I think it's great that they are telling others how they voted. discussion is a very good thing, we need more of it. it's the hostility attached though (that I see in both sides, really) which I find so incredibly hypocritical. there's a fine line between being offensive and outspoken and whichever way you choose to act that's fine, freedom of speech. just be aware that you're doing it.
