  • When a celeb takes great photos

    This just came to me while I was on Facebook.  Vanness08's current FB profile pic is a photo of some guy from some group (ask Aisha), lol.  The more I stare at it the more it looks like art.  I love the aesthetic of the photo and the movement.  Zai's profile pic isn't the first celeb photo that has appealed to my artsy side.  I also really like a photo of VanNess in flight as it were.  I don't know if it was supposed to be a martial arts kick or something, but he looks like a flamenco dancer took to the air.  I like the use of shadow and how the fluidity in his movement seems to negate the tightness of his muscles.  It's kind of like watching a cat fall in slow motion.  Depending on the size of the cat you can see the muscles working to twist it's body so it lands on it's feet.  The movement is tight and airy all at the same time.  The only thing I dislike is that there is too much space on the sides and not enough up top.  Perhaps the photographer wanted him to look like he hit the ceiling?  I don't know.



    Rarely does a photo of a person strike me as being art.  I dunno why.  They just don't.  I'm especially not moved by photos of celebrities.  If they're not well built and half naked men, I don't really give a damn to tell you the honest truth.  There have been a few stand outs.  I actually bought a poster of Janet Jackson because the pose she was doing (probably dancing) was intricate and interesting.  It really was her hand placement.  I've searched through 60 pages of JJ images and didn't see it.  I am not searching through any more. 

    The only other photo that comes to mind is one of Madonna.  It's a nude probably from her Erotica book, I don't know.  It's provocative to be sure, but not erotic at least not to me.  She was actually placed among art; thus, becoming part of the work herself.  I wouldn't post the image here even if I had it for obvious reasons, but it's an interesting photo.

    I have pilfered Zai's profile pic.  muwahahahahaaaaaaa   I just like this.  I like the white background and the chains or whatever flying off his jacket.  I especially like the shirt.  (Ok, so I would wear it, but that's not what I meant.)  I like how the shirt looks like it's binding and yet he is obviously moving.  Fighting for freedom or just taking off his jacket?  Who knows.




    @Aisha:  Thanks girlie.  Since he's cut his hair he's kind of blended in with everyone else.  It's not the first time I've gotten him confused with this guy.
